T-Mobile Heads to Alabama and Georgia Following Powerful Tornados

Our emergency teams continue to support the Griffin, GA community. T-Mobile’s Community Support team will be at the Spalding County Senior Center at 885 Memorial Drive, Griffin GA 30223 until 4 pm ET today providing free Wi-Fi, device charging, charging cables and portable chargers.

Community Update

Our Emergency Response team continues to coordinate with federal, state and local organizations; first responders; and Emergency Operation Centers in the impacted region. Agencies needing communications assistance can reach out to our 24-hour Emergency Response Team Hotline at 888-639-0020.

Our Community Support teams and emergency equipment are in the areas of Selma, AL and Griffin, GA again today with supplies such as free Wi-Fi and charging equipment including stations, cables and banks. Here are the details:

Selma, AL

  • Through 6pm ET: American Red Cross shelter at Selma High School, 2180 Broad Street, Selma, AL 36701 (providing free Wi-Fi and device charging)

Griffin, GA

  • Through 6pm ET: American Red Cross shelter at First United Methodist Church, 1401 Maple Drive, Griffin, GA 30224 (providing free Wi-Fi and device charging)

Network Update

Our network is fully operational in the Selma, AL area and restoration is underway for a small number of sites that remain impacted in the Griffin, GA area. Emergency Management engineers will continue that work as conditions safely allow.

We are saddened by Thursday’s devastating tornados across Alabama and Georgia as a dangerous storm passed through the South, and our thoughts are with those impacted. T-Mobile’s Community Support teams deployed early this morning and are headed to Selma, AL and Griffin, GA today with emergency response vehicles that will offer a range of services and supplies including free Wi-Fi, charging stations, charging banks, charging cables and more.

We know that connectivity is of utmost importance during critical times such as this. Our network has minimal impact in the hardest hit area of Selma, AL and a small number of sites down in the Griffin, GA area. We have engineers continuing to assess and closely monitor equipment, and they’ll work to restore impacted sites as conditions safely allow.
