Giving Big: T-Mobile Joined Employees and Customers to Mobilize for Communities in 2018

At T-Mobile we’re not only committed to changing wireless for good, we’re committed to changing the WORLD for good! With 5,000+ retail stores across the country and more than 50,000 employees who are fired up to make a difference, we are steadfast in our mission to create positive change in the thousands of communities we serve – each and every day!

While T-Mobile has a variety of programs focused on important issues such as youth development, diversity and inclusion, and supporting our military veterans, and sustainability, we also take pride in empowering our employees and customers to give back to causes THEY care about most. In 2018 alone – through our employee matching program, text-to give campaigns, community grants and holiday promotions like #GivingOnUs, T-Mobile employees, customers and fans, and the T-Mobile Foundation donated to more than 6,000 different organizations! 

From the very bottom of our magenta heart, thank you to everyone who joined the Un-carrier in giving back. The best news is, we're just getting started. We're ready and eager to go even bigger this coming year... and BEYOND because #WeWontStop! So the question is – #AreYouWithUs?

Here are just a few highlights of how we mobilized to give back in 2018:

Employee Volunteering and Matching

T-Mobile is proud to match employees’ donation dollars and volunteer hours – up to $2,000 a year. Through our matching program, our employees and the T-Mobile Foundation donated more than $4.4M to our communities in 2018. Our employees also volunteered nearly 60,000 hours for causes they care about most – that’s a 56 percent increase over last year!

Disaster Relief

We are ready to mobilize when disasters strike to help communities rebuild. In 2018, T-Mobile gave more than $1.6M worth of relief support during and after the devastating California wildfires. To support hurricane recovery efforts, T-Mobile and MLB fans also raised nearly $1.1M for Team Rubicon’s military veteran first responders to rebuild after Hurricane Florence and Hurricane Michael.


T-Mobile is committed to empowering the next generation of leaders! Last year we committed more than $1.2M to community youth programs. As part of this, we continued Generation T, a partnership with Boys and Girls Clubs of America and After-School All-Stars that provides young people with opportunities to explore careers in technology. Plus, we also launched our first-ever Changemaker Challenge contest, where trailblazing teens and young adults presented world-changing ideas – and received mentoring and financial support to make them a reality!

T-Mobile Employees Show Off Un-carrier Pride


We are doing our part to reduce our impact on the planet. We joined RE100 and committed to use 100% renewable energy by 2021 – including our Seattle-area HQ campus. In celebration of Earth Day, T-Mobile also partnered with The Nature Conservancy to make it easy for ANYONE to plant a tree on behalf of the Un-carrier… resulting in more than 27,000 trees planted in 2018!

Holiday Giving

The holiday season is a perfect time to give back – and we made it easy for customers, fans and employees to do just that – on us! On Giving Tuesday, we made more than $2M available through our #GivingOnUs promotion. Through those efforts we enabled Feeding America® to give 5 million meals to people facing hunger.
