It’s Time to Send a Message! By John LegereAugust 26, 2015 ![](https://www.t-mobile.com/news/_admin/uploads/2002/03/article-default.desktop-500x325.jpg) 3 min read - Facebook IconShare on Facebook - Share on Twitter - LinkedIn IconShare on LinkedIn I have some news to share this morning! I just found out that more than 250,000 people have signed my [petition](https://www.change.org/p/wireless-carriers-abolishoverages-att-verizonwireless-and-sprint) to end overages on Change.org – making it the [*#1 technology petition*](https://www.change.org/tags/technology-9#all-time) on the site! Clearly, we’ve struck a chord with Americans who are sick and tired of being bilked by ATT, Verizon and Sprint for more than $1.5 billion in overage penalties this year alone. That’s a quarter million people demanding the carriers join T‑Mobile in putting an end to overage penalties – easily one of the ugliest things about this broken, arrogant industry – and still, those fat cats haven’t budged. But I’m not done putting pressure on these guys, and a few months ago, I [promised](https://newsroom.t%E2%80%91mobile.com/news/we-wont-stop.htm) that – when we hit a quarter million signatures – I’d send a message that the carriers couldn’t possibly ignore. You guys made good on your half of the deal – now it’s my turn. So here we go: Check out the options my team came up with to send a message the carriers can’t possibly miss. Then, __tweet the hashtag of your favorite__ over the next week. Once the votes are in, I’ll take the winning idea, tie it up with a bow and take it straight to the carriers - (don’t worry, we’ll make sure to tell you when & where – and get plenty of photos!). __![](https://newsroom.t%E2%80%91mobile.com/content/1020/images/change.png)Skyline Takeover__ I’m a big fan of seeing buildings covered in magenta. So we’d take over the skyline in AT&T, Verizon or Sprint’s home market – and display a massive copy of our petition with the names of all quarter million + signers hung from a building. Vote for this option by tweeting #tmobileskyline __Skywriting__ What better way to send a message than doing it right over their headquarters?! We’ll skywrite a message they can’t miss and get the whole thing on video. Hell, I might even ride along in the plane for this one. Vote for this option by tweeting #tmobileskywriting __Overage Counter__ Check your watch. As the seconds tick by the entire country is racking up overages (except T‑Mobile customers). We’ll build a live counter that displays the running tally of how much America has spent in overages and put it smack dab in the middleof a competitor’s home market. Vote for this option by tweeting #tmobileoveragecounter What do you think? I think this is going to be fun! But, this is about a lot more than having some fun at the carriers’ expense. This is about forcing change on an industry that’s become so fat it’s forgotten how to listen to customers. Overages need to go. They’re wrong. Customers hate them. And, they give this industry a bad name. Together, we’re going to make it impossible for the old carriers to ignore this Un-carrier revolution, so take a second to vote, and we’ll take it from there!     Tags[Employees](https://www.t-mobile.com/news/archive/employees)[Giving Back](https://www.t-mobile.com/news/archive/giving-back) ## Related Stories [More Stories](https://www.t-mobile.com/news/stories) [![T-Mobile Completes Merger with Sprint to Create the New T-Mobile](https://www.t-mobile.com/news/_admin/uploads/2020/04/nr-article-Day0-04-01-20.desktop-500x325.png) \ Un-carrierPress Release \ __T‑Mobile Completes Merger with Sprint to Create the New T‑Mobile__ \ April 01, 2020|15 min read](https://www.t-mobile.com/news/un-carrier/t-mobile-sprint-one-company) [![Thank a Helper, Be a Helper with #GiveThanksNotPranks](https://www.t-mobile.com/news/_admin/uploads/2020/03/nr-article-GiveThanksNotPranks-3-31-20.desktop-500x325.png) \ CommunityPress Release \ __Thank a Helper, Be a Helper with #GiveThanksNotPranks__ \ March 31, 2020|5 min read](https://www.t-mobile.com/news/community/give-thanks-not-pranks) [![T-Mobile Update on COVID-19 Response](https://www.t-mobile.com/news/_admin/uploads/2010/11/article-toggle.desktop-500x325.png) \ CommunityPress Release \ __T‑Mobile Update on COVID-19 Response__ \ March 13, 2020|15 min read](https://www.t-mobile.com/news/community/t-mobile-update-on-covid-19-response) [![T-Mobile and the T-Mobile Foundation Joined with Employees to Give Back to Communities, the Environment and America’s Youth in 2019](https://www.t-mobile.com/news/_admin/uploads/2020/02/nr-article-CSR2019-02-21-20.desktop-500x325.png) \ CommunityStory \ __T‑Mobile and the T‑Mobile Foundation Joined with Employees to Give Back to Communities, the Environment and America’s Youth in 2019__ \ February 28, 2020|6 min read](https://www.t-mobile.com/news/community/t-mobile-2019-csr-review)
