The Un-carrier’s Birmingham Call Center receives highest score in the 250+ employees category

Bellevue, Wash. and Birmingham, Ala. − April 30, 2015 − Can you name the best “extra large” company to work for in Birmingham? The Birmingham Business Journal just did! This afternoon, at its annual “Best Places to Work” awards luncheon in Birmingham, the BBJ named long-time local employer, T-Mobile (NYSE: TMUS) the winner in the “Extra Large Company – 250+ Employees” category, calling out the Un-carrier’s Birmingham call center for its stellar reputation in teamwork, trust and management.

“Our employees in Birmingham truly are amazing and exemplify what it means to be the Un-carrier,” said John Legere, T-Mobile president and CEO. “Every day they rock the status quo and raise the bar for this industry. They are THE driving force behind this Un-carrier revolution and have made T-Mobile the fastest-growing wireless company in America.”

T-Mobile’s Birmingham call center, which opened in 1996, hired 243 new employees in 2014, and 91more were hired already this year. But better yet, T-Mobile has plans to add more employees by the end of 2015.

In addition, T-Mobile focuses on having a positive impact on the local communities it serves, while creating a fun, enjoyable and rewarding environment that makes it the workplace of choice in the wireless industry. T-Mobile’s more than 600 call center employees in Birmingham, along with its 85 Birmingham-area retail employees, are also committed to supporting the local Birmingham and greater Alabama communities, regularly leading and participating in community events, partnering with organizations such as South Hampton School, Gifts for Angel Tree Kids, the YMCA’s Youth Development program and Relay For Life.

To determine this year’s finalists, the BBJ surveyed employees of nominated companies to measure perception in several key categories, including team effectiveness, trust in senior leaders and manager effectiveness. Companies were then ranked based on those responses and winners were chosen in various size categories according to their overall composite score.

The company has a history of winning ‘Best Places to Work’ awards in markets across the country, winning more than 75 awards over the past 10 years. T-Mobile employees throughout the country create and work in a fantastic culture, with a values and performance-based foundation laser-focused on the customer. Employees receive a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, 401(k) matching, generous paid time off and much, much more.
