T-Mobile (NASDAQ: TMUS) announced that AAA has selected the Un-carrier to be its exclusive wireless partner to help keep their drivers and members safe when minutes count. Under this long-term agreement, T-Mobile will provide connectivity for AAA-owned roadside assistance fleets nationwide. Additionally, T-Mobile has outfitted thousands of AAA roadside assistance technicians with 5G phones so they can stay connected on the road and beyond.

One of North America’s largest and most trusted membership organizations, AAA serves more than 63 million members and responds to approximately 30 million calls for roadside assistance annually. And moments matter for the safety of tow providers, emergency responders and travelers who are on the side of today’s busy and congested roads. Every minute a person is stopped on a freeway, the risk of being seriously injured or killed in a secondary crash increases. In fact, according to the Federal Highway Administration, the likelihood of a secondary crash goes up by 2.8 percent for each minute the primary accident continues to be a hazard. So, to help reduce time spent at the side of the road, AAA will rely on the 5G network that covers more US highway miles than any other carrier.

Today, T-Mobile (NASDAQ: TMUS) and Delta Air Lines announced SkyMiles Members flying Delta, regardless of their wireless provider, can get <a href="http://t-mobile.com/deltafreewifi">fast, free Wi-Fi all flight long</a>. Both T-Mobile and Delta share the importance of staying connected wherever life leads — even at 30,000 feet. This partnership fuels the vision for a more connected travel experience for all.

Travel is expected to soar in 2023, with <a href="https://partner.booking.com/en-gb/click-magazine/trends-insights/key-takeaways-bookingcoms-2023-travel-predictions">over two-thirds of people</a> feeling more optimistic about traveling this year compared to last. Free Wi-Fi will be rolling out to most domestic mainline Delta flights starting February 1, with more than 700 aircraft expected to offer free Wi-Fi by the end of 2023. Expansion to international and regional routes is expected by the end of 2024. The service includes free Wi-Fi all flight long — available on smartphones, tablets and laptops. Phone makers are making waves by removing the physical SIM card from newer devices. T-Mobile has a plan for keeping you connected worldwide, whatever your SIM (or eSIM) status.

While the latest big 5G device launch had many people excited — with new bells and whistles like upgraded camera features, improved battery life and always-on display — not everyone was thrilled, namely people with passports.

Many travelers, when visiting a new country, would simply pop in a local SIM card to avoid any surprise bills when roaming, given their plans didn’t cover international travel. Naturally, the outrage on social media was swift and loud, with <a href="https://twitter.com/jvtechtea/status/1567574292745048065" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">one traveler tweeting</a> (and 217 others retweeting): “Now no SIM card so if you’re traveling, you’re forced to pay for international roaming on your eSIM from US carriers?!”
