Plan

What is T-Mobile Home Internet?

  • T-Mobile Home Internet is an expanding offering from T-Mobile, available to more than 30 million households nationwide.
  • It's fast, affordable home internet service that lets you do it all for just $50 a month with AutoPay, taxes and fees included for qualified accounts – a flat price, no annual contract and no data caps.
  • T-Mobile Home Internet service connects to the same great 4G LTE or 5G network T-Mobile smartphones run on, depending on signal availability at your eligible address.
  • You receive service through a 5G Gateway device (which combines the capabilities of a router and a modem), the Gateway device then converts the 5G signal to Wi-Fi, and provides a Wi-Fi signal accessible by all the devices in your home.
  • Easy, self-installation – set up in as little as 15 minutes.

How much does the T-Mobile Home Internet plan cost?

  • T-Mobile Home Internet is just $50 all in with AutoPay, or $55 without AutoPay.
  • There's no annual service contract and no hidden fees and 24/7 support from T-Mobile's amazing Customer Care Team.

Is there a data cap on the T-Mobile Home Internet service?

Nope! There are no data caps on our 5G Home Internet service.

What speeds can I expect from T-Mobile Home Internet?

T-Mobile 5G Home Internet customers see typical download speeds between 33-182 Mbps, which is great speed for streaming video, surfing the web, working from home and most types of online gaming. Speeds can vary depending on location, signal strength and availability, time of day, and other factors. Our speed projections are based on our analysis of internal and third-party data. See T-Mobile.com/OpenInternet for more information.

Can I purchase higher-speed service?

We don't offer tiered pricing based on speeds at this time. Customers automatically receive the best speeds available from the Home Internet service at their home address. As better speeds are available, customers will automatically experience them, at no additional cost. During congestion, Home Internet customers may notice speeds lower than customers using other T-Mobile services due to data prioritization.

Are there ways I cannot use T-Mobile Home Internet?

You can use your Home Internet for all the homework, streaming, and video conferencing you need! But to ensure that our network is available for all customers, there are some restrictions on activities that can damage or disproportionately congest the network. For example, Home Internet is not intended for unattended use, automatic data feeds, automated machine-to-machine connections, or uses that automatically consume unreasonable amounts of available network capacity. Please see T-Mobile's Terms and Conditions for prohibited uses.

What kind of upload speeds can I expect with T-Mobile Home Internet?

Typical upload speeds are between 6 Mbps and 23 Mbps. See T-Mobile.com/OpenInternet for details.

What is the $50 Home Internet plan?

Starting October 5, 2021, customers can get Home Internet for just $50 a month with AutoPay.

What is included in the $50 Home Internet plan?

Home Internet uses the same great network T-Mobile smartphones run on. Home Internet customers get service for just $50/month, with no hidden fees, no price hikes, no annual contracts, and no data caps. The T-Mobile High-Speed Internet Gateway (which combines the capabilities of a router and a modem), is delivered directly to their home, and it’s easy to install. Just plug it in, turn it on, and you’re ready to go - streaming, zooming, and remote learning are all supported.

Do I have to pay to move my services?

No, customers transfer service to an eligible new home at no cost.

How soon can I use my T-mobile 5G internet service after I move?

Customers are required to call T-Mobile prior to moving to confirm that their new address is eligible for service. If T-Mobile Home Internet is available at the new address, you can use it as soon as you move in. If a customer moves without notifying T-Mobile, they may not be eligible for service. Please call 1-844-275-9310 to set up a change of address.

Is the $50 Home Internet plan tax exclusive or does the price include taxes and fees?

Simply power up your T-Mobile High-Speed Internet Gateway, download the T-Mobile Internet app (Android or iOS), and follow a few instructions. And if you have any trouble, you can contact our T-Mobile Home Internet support team through the app or at 1-844-275-9310 for 24x7 assistance.

Can I use the device elsewhere, like my vacation home?

No. The T-Mobile 5G Gateway is specific to your eligible address, so you can't move it from one location to another. This helps us assure that the place of use meets our network standards to provide you and others with a high quality of service.

Why do I want a T-Mobile ID?

A T-Mobile ID is a credential that links the services you use with T-Mobile, including Home Internet. With a T-Mobile ID and password, you can log into My T-Mobile to pay your bill, set up and manage AutoPay, and more.
Home Internet customers can create a T-Mobile ID by signing up here using the email address you used at time of sale.
Note: Home Internet customers that did not provide an email address for service notifications and receive a paper bill will need to call 844-275-9310 to provide their email address in order to register for T-Mobile ID.

During setup, why am I being asked for several passwords?

Safety and security are our top priorities. By choosing a Home Internet device password and network passwords, you'll maximize your Wi-Fi security.

  • If you are using the 4G LTE Gateway, you will need to choose a password for each of your two networks.
  • If you are using the 5G Gateway one password can be used for both networks.

How do I view or pay my Home Internet bill?

To see your bill and payment options, log into My T-Mobile with your T-Mobile ID. You can also set up automatic, recurring payments with our free AutoPay service.

Device Details

What are some of the key features of the T-Mobile 5G Gateway?

  • Customers can connect up to 64 devices to their home Wi-Fi.
  • Wi-Fi 6 also provides Muti-user MIMO, which creates more capacity as more users connect, improving individual speeds when many devices are accessing Wi-Fi. (Wi-Fi 6 performance and advantages are based upon using Wi-Fi 6 devices).
  • The Gateway is multiple home network (SSID) capable, which allows customers to set up 4 separate Wi-Fi names for various uses such as a guest network for your friends and family.
  • It connects to the massive capacity of T-Mobile's 4G LTE and 5G networks.
  • The SIM card will only work with the 5G Gateway device. It cannot be moved into other devices or routers.

Can I use the device elsewhere, like my vacation home?

No. The T-Mobile 5G Gateway will be specific to your eligible address, so you can't move it from one location to another. This helps us assure the place-of-use meets our network standards to provide you with a high quality of service.

What is Wi-Fi 6 technology?

The T-Mobile 5G Gateway has the latest Wi-Fi 6 technology. Instead of boosting the speed for individual devices connected, Wi-Fi 6 is all about improving the network when a bunch of devices are connected.

Can I connect the Gateway to the router I already have setup at home?

Yes. T-Mobile's 5G Gateway is compatible with most modern Wi-Fi routers.

  • The 5G Gateway has modern Wi-Fi technology that's capable of delivering great connectivity across most homes, all on its own.
  • Connecting the gateway to older (or less advanced) existing network equipment can impact performance
  • There may settings on existing routers that need to be adjusted for compatibility and/or performance (example - some existing routers may need to be set to "bridge mode" to be compatible)

Remember: The T-Mobile Home Internet app allows customers to choose a name (and password) for the Wi-Fi network it broadcasts. This means customers could disconnect their current Wi-Fi router, then set the 5G Gateway's network name (and password) to match what they were previously using. This allows Wi-Fi devices in-home to seamlessly switch to the new Wi-Fi network, without having to re-input the name and password.

Does it provide a "landline" phone connection?

No. T-Mobile's 5G Gateway does not support a traditional voice connection and does not provide customers a "landline".

How far does the signal go from my house?

The Wi-Fi signal from your 4G LTE Wi-Fi Gateway or 5G Gateway will travel about the same distance as any other Wi-Fi signal, which ranges depending on interference and obstructions, but we estimate it will be approximately 30 feet, give or take. Your 4G LTE Wi-Fi Gateway or High-Speed Internet Gateway is designed for use in your house and should be permanently placed in the best possible location to pick up the 4G LTE or 5G signal depending on signal availability at your eligible address.

What does it mean that the T-Mobile 5G Gateway is Multiple home network (SSID) capable?

This allows you to set up 4 separate unique names for Wi-Fi for various uses. For example, if you have guests coming to visit you can name a network "Guests" for them to connect to.

I'm an existing Home Internet customer, can I exchange for a newer Gateway?

Due to a combination of Covid-19 impacts and customer demand for Home Internet, inventory is extremely limited. The good news is that your existing device includes most of the same features as the new device and will continue to provide great home internet service. All of our 5G Gateways offer the same key features and experience including Wi-Fi, multiple home network (SSID), and a connection to the massive capacity of T-Mobile's 4G LTE and 5G networks.

Is it compatible with "mesh" Wi-Fi Extenders?

Yes. T-Mobile's 5G Gateway is compatible with most modern mesh extenders.

Does it support File Transfer Protocol (FTP)?

Yes. T-Mobile Home Internet supports common FTP access and usage protocols.

Are Voice Over IP (VOIP) services compatible with Home Internet?

Can I use Live TV streaming services?

  • T-Mobile Home Internet uses dynamic IP addressing, meaning the customer’s IP address will change over time.
  • Dynamic IP changes may cause the geolocation to show different than the physical location of the gateway.
    • T-Mobile does not have the ability to change IP from dynamic to static.
  • Streaming services that rely on IP address for specific location data to deliver live TV are not compatible with T-Mobile Home Internet. This includes Hulu Live and Sling Live TV.
