The edge 2025 is slightly taller and a bit heavier, but it's thinner than the 2024, making it feel more refined in the hand. The frame is aluminum and now features a more premium quad-curved glass front, using Gorilla Glass 7i for added scratch resistance. What really sets it apart is durability. The edge 2025 adds IP69 water resistance and MIL-STD-810H certification, making it one of the most rugged phones in its class. So, if you’re prone to drops, spills, or outdoor adventures, this upgrade matters. ### __Display__ The 2024’s 144Hz refresh rate, which made scrolling and gaming feel ultra-smooth, is faster than the 2025’s 120Hz. But the new edge makes big strides in other ways. It has a slightly larger 6.7-inch display (up from 6.6") and a noticeable jump in resolution and brightness—reaching a peak of 4500 nits compared to 1300 nits on the 2024 model. You also get a higher 300Hz touch response rate, which helps with responsiveness during gaming or fast swiping. HDR10+ support is onboard too, so streaming content looks punchier and more lifelike. ### __Performance__ The 2024 model ran on a Snapdragon 7s Gen 2, which handled daily tasks well. For 2025, Motorola switches to a MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Ultra. It’s similar in terms of efficiency, but with improved GPU performance and better thermal management. Real-world performance should feel snappier overall, especially with Motorola’s added RAM Boost feature—which temporarily turns storage into extra memory—making multitasking a breeze. Battery life also gets a bump thanks to the larger 5,200mAh battery in the 2025, while keeping the same 68W fast charging and 15W wireless charging. ### __Camera__ This is one of the biggest upgrades. The edge 2024 had a solid dual-camera setup (50MP main + 13MP ultrawide), but the edge 2025 now includes a triple-lens rear system with a 50MP wide, 50MP ultrawide, and a 10MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. That means sharper shots from a distance and better versatility overall. The front-facing camera also sees a big jump—from 32MP in 2024 to 50MP in 2025, with improved portrait clarity and video capabilities (including 4K selfie recording). If photography is your thing, the newer model brings a lot more to the table. ### __Software and features__ The edge 2025 ships with Android 15 and includes Motorola’s updated Hello UI, along with new AI-powered tools. You’ll find features like real-time voice transcription, AI summaries of notifications, and a new AI Key on the side of the phone that can be customized to launch moto ai-powered features like “Catch Me Up” or “Pay Attention.” Both phones still offer helpful tools like Peek Display, Moto Gametime, and Motorola’s gesture shortcuts—but the 2025 model layers in a lot more smarts. The phones only promise two major Android updates and three years of security updates, which is less than some similarly priced devices. ### __Pricing and availability__ The edge 2025 hit the market in early June 2025 and launched at the same price point as the 2024—$549.99 in the U.S.—making them strong mid-range contenders.
