Got questions?

  • Scam Shield is free security built right into the T-Mobile network. That includes protection from scam and spam calls, texts, and websites. The network automatically stops bad actors - before they get to your phone. You can enable Scam Shield and blocking of scam and spam calls through the T-Life app.

It is easy to access Scam Shield right from your T-Life homepage or manage tab — where you can manage blocked websites and scam calls.

Scam Shield includes great features like Scam Likely, Scam Block, personal number blocking, Potential Spam and sending Potential Spam Calls directly to voicemail. It also includes Callback Protection and Safe Web Browsing – available free to T-Mobile customers.

For the best experience, ensure your T-Life app has been updated with the latest! You can do so by searching for the app in the App Store, if it says open then you are all set! If you see Update, click to allow the app to run the update.

  • T-Life makes your digital security even better, but the network automatically blocks texts and websites and identifies scam and spam calls, so you don’t have to. You can turn on Scam Block by dialing #662# from your T-Mobile device to automatically block Scam Likely calls.

With T-Life, you can see what has been blocked and manage your other protection settings.

  • Dangerous Site Blocked is a notification for Scam Shield Safe Web Browsing. That notification shows up if you’ve attempted to visit a dangerous website. Don’t worry – T-Mobile blocked it to keep you safe.

T-Mobile recommends against going to known phishing and malware sites that are on the block list. But, to allow a blocked websites, visit the Internet tab of Scam Shield in T-Life, then select Blocked & Allowed websites. Find the blocked website and select “Allow”.

  • T-Mobile checks data traffic on our network against lists of known phishing sites, malware distributors, and other malicious sources. If the website is detected as dangerous, we automatically block the connection so scammers can’t steal your information.

You can turn on notifications to see when websites have been blocked with Scam Shield in the T-Life app. Select Internet and turn on the “Safe Web Browsing” toggle.

  • When our network filters detect a potential scam call, we flag it and display it as Scam Likely on your device. This is made possible by our Scam ID technology which is embedded in our network and is enabled by default for all T-Mobile customers. No action is required on the part of customers to enable it, and it’s free.

  • There are a few ways to turn on Scam Block:

    • Download the free T-Life app and toggle on Scam Block
    • Dial #662# from your T-Mobile device
    • Log in to My T-Mobile or the T-Mobile app, where you'll see an option to turn on Scam Block
    • Turn Scam Block on for your DIGITS numbers by dialing 611 from your T-Mobile device to speak to a mobile expert
    • T-Mobile pre-paid customers can turn on Scam Block by dialing #662#, visiting a retail store, or dialing 611 to speak to Care

Qualifying service & capable device required. Turning on Scam Block might block calls you want; disable any time.

  • Callback Protection is T-Mobile's next level in protecting customers from scammers using urgent-looking messages to trick them into calling fake numbers. If you call a number on T-Mobile’s Scam Likely list, you will hear an audible warning that says, “We’ve identified the number you are calling is likely a scam. It’s recommended you hang up now.”

No action is required by customers to enable this free protection.

  • No, Scam Block only prevents incoming Scam Likely calls from ringing your phone. For outbound calls, Scam Shield Callback Protection will give you an audible warning before the phone starts ringing.

  • The free website https://calltransparency.com/ lets businesses register their business number(s) and name, so their calls to customers are recognized as legitimate.

  • Caller ID is the name of the caller as displayed on incoming calls made by the caller, and it’s a free feature for all T-Mobile customers with a capable device.

To get Caller ID, T-Mobile customers can download the T-Life app to get started. Eligible T-Mobile customers can also opt in by dialing #436#, or by logging in to My T-Mobile.

To edit the way your own Caller ID displays when you make calls, log into the T-Life app and select Manage>Settings>Device Settings >Caller ID Name and enter your legal name or a commonly accepted variation. Profanity is not allowed. Changes will display within 72 hours.

If your name change isn't working, please dial 611 from your phone and we'll connect you to your Team of Experts.

  • Potential Spam calls are unwanted solicitation calls from numbers that aren’t specifically intended for you. These differ from Scam Likely calls, which are usually fraudulent, illegal, and intended to harm you. Potential Spam tagging is enabled by default for all T-Mobile customers at no extra cost.

If you want more control, you can send Potential Spam call types directly to voicemail with Scam Shield in the T-Life app – for free. On the call tab, turn on the “Send potential spam to voicemail” toggle.

  • We do our best to block spam and scam calls. Our network defenses update every 6 minutes. However, scammers sometimes still find a way around these network protections. While we continue to improve our network filters to block a higher percentage of all spam and scam calls, we encourage all our customers to report any spam or scam calls that we are unable to block. You can also report calls that you deem safe that might have been incorrectly blocked. There are two ways you can report calls:

    From the app:

    1. In the T-Life app go to the manage tab or shortcuts, then select Scam Shield, tap Recent Activity > See All. A call log appears.
    2. Select the number that needs to be reported, then tap Report Caller
    3. Choose the best category that represents the type of call, then tap Report

    From a web browser:

    1. In a web browser, visit https://callreporting.t-mobile.com/
    2. Fill out the form, then choose Review. Corrections are made within 48 hours of a verified request.
  • We've had an anti-spam solution for mobile messaging including SMS and MMS since 2014, and we include it at no additional charge for T-Mobile customers. Here’s how it works:

    • Our anti-spam message solution is updated regularly with spam message fingerprints and signatures. Whenever a mobile message is received on the network, it's checked against the anti-spam solution. If a message is determined to be spam or unwanted, we'll block it. Otherwise, the message will be delivered.
    • Customers can report spam or unwanted messages by simply forwarding the messages to 7726. We'll reply with a confirmation text and forward the message to the Security Center for analysis. The message and your details are encrypted, so your identity won't be shared.
    • Replying "STOP" is usually a convenient way to quickly opt out of a message program. However, for unwanted spam texts, we recommend forwarding messages to 7726 and not replying. Similar to picking up an unknown robocall, spammers will use any texted reply (including "STOP") as confirmation that they've reached a real person.

T-Mobile cannot block scam or spam messages on iMessage or other third-party messaging apps because the encrypted messages are not sent through the T-Mobile network.

  • Scam Shield Premium delivers advanced call controls beyond the free services included with Scam Shield to help combat unwanted robocalls and manage nuisance calls. Features include:

    • Sending entire categories of calls directly to voicemail, including telemarketers, political and charity solicitations, and survey calls.
    • Reverse Number Lookup for unknown callers, and the option to create Personal Number Blocking lists that live on the network—not just your contact list—so your preferences will stay, even if you delete the app or get a new device
    • Voicemail-to-text, which sends you a transcription of a voicemail via an SMS message, email, or in the Visual Voicemail app
