Q: Who is eligible for the EBB?

T-Mobile , Metro, Assurance, and Sprint customers are all eligible. Even some small business accounts registered with a social security number are eligible. There are two ways to qualify for the EBB program. All qualifications are set by the FCC: Your household has a total income at or below 135% of the federal poverty guidelines or Any member of the household meets at least one of the following criteria: Qualifies for Lifeline benefits through participation in SNAP, Medicaid, Supplemental Security Income, Federal Public Housing Assistance, or Veterans and Survivors Pension Benefit Participates in one of several Tribal specific programs: Bureau of Indian Affairs General Assistance, Tribal Head Start (only households meeting the relevant income qualifying standard), Tribal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (Tribal TANF), or Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations Experienced a substantial loss of income since February 29, 2020, with a total household income in 2020 at or below $99,000 for single filers and $198,000 for joint filers Received a Federal Pell Grant in the current award year Received approval for benefits under the free and reduced-price school lunch program or the school breakfast program, including through the USDA Community Eligibility Provision, in the 2019-2020 or 2020-2021 school year Meets the eligibility criteria for a participating provider’s existing low-income or COVID-19 program, and that provider received FCC approval for its eligibility verification process Only one monthly service discount is allowed per household. Program rules acknowledge there may be more than one eligible household residing at the same address.

Why is the Emergency Broadband Benefit (EBB) program ending?

The FCC launched EBB as a temporary program to help subsidize the cost of high-speed Internet services for households struggling financially due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The FCC will end the program effective December 31, 2021, although service will still be available to existing customers for 60 days, through March 1, 2022.
If you are enrolled in EBB, you will receive additional information if you are required to take any steps to confirm eligibility for ACP. If eligible, you can continue your ACP benefit with Assurance Wireless or Metro by T-Mobile.

Business accounts are not eligible for EBB, except for certain small business accounts where:

You are personally liable for your small business account, such as where you provided a personal guarantee of the account
The small business account plan is eligible under the EBB program

How will I know if I successfully enrolled?

You will receive an SMS or email from T-Mobile stating that your enrollment has been approved, and your EBB discount will be applied to your account within 1-2 billing cycles. Once your EBB discount has been applied to your account, you will receive another confirmation from T-Mobile via text or email.

What if I am not enrolled for EBB with T-Mobile, but I did get approved by the National Verifier already?

You can still submit your enrollment form for EBB discounts with T-Mobile. We’ll be accepting applications until December 27, 2021.

Is there anything I need to do? Will I lose my discount on December 31?

If you’re already enrolled in EBB with T-Mobile by December 30, 2021, you’ll continue to receive the EBB discount through March 1, 2022.
