Q: What plans qualify for roaming in 210+ countries and destinations, and how do I sign up?

The Magenta ® , Simple Choice ™ , New Classic, and Select Choice plans provide unlimited 2G data, unlimited texting and calling at $0.25 per minute in 210+ countries and destinations. The Essentials plan provides unlimited text and calling at $0.25 per minute (but not data) in 210+ countries and destinations. Log in to My T-Mobile to confirm that you have one of these plans. If you have one of these plans, no need to add a separate feature or service to your account or call Customer Care before you travel. International roaming is included in qualifying plans at no extra charge.

With Magenta will I get the same high-speed network experience internationally, as I do here at home in the US?

When you travel to Mexico and Canada, you get unlimited calling, texting, and data with up to 5GB at 4G LTE speeds. Plus, you get unlimited calling to Mexico and Canada from the US for free.

When you travel abroad in 210+ countries and destinations you will have unlimited data at up to 128 kbps, which is great for web browsing, email, social media, and occasional use of certain features like GPS/maps. Some applications like streaming music or video typically requires higher-speed data for optimal functionality. If you frequently travel internationally and require a higher speed you can add Magenta^® Plus and get up to 256kbps speeds abroad for $15/month.

Are there international benefits with Magenta Plus?

Yes. Magenta Plus customers get unlimited data at 2x speeds of Magenta plans (up to 256 kbps) in addition to receiving unlimited text and calling at $0.25 per minute in 210+ countries and destinations.

How can I get faster data speeds when traveling abroad?

Accepted Answer

T-Mobile customers with qualifying plans (including Magenta, ONE, Essentials, and Simple Choice) can add an International Pass to receive high-speed data. These passes include increased high-speed data options and unlimited voice calling.

International Pass: 512MB of high-speed data at up to LTE speeds and unlimited calling, to be used up to 24 hours, for $5/day.
5GB International Pass: 5GB of high-speed data at up to LTE speeds and unlimited calling, to be used up to 10 days, for $35.
15GB International Pass: 15GB of high-speed data at up to LTE speeds and unlimited calling, to be used up to 30 days, for $50.

If you use all the high-speed data before the designated time is up, you can still use unlimited texting and data at Simple Global speeds based on your current rate plan, or at up to 128kbps for the duration of the pass if your plan does not include international data. The unlimited calling will be available for the full designated time as well. If you activate a new pass, then your old pass expires, and your time starts over using the duration of the new pass.

International Pass high-speed data can be used however you like throughout the designated time. You are not restricted to a certain amount per day.

Can I add more than 512MB of LTE per day when I am roaming?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You may purchase up to two International Passes per rolling 24-hour period. However, if you use up all your data in less than 24 hours and choose to activate a second pass, your unlimited talk benefits will also reset to expire with the second pass.

Do all plans include global coverage?

Accepted Answer

No. Pay-in-advance plans and No Credit Check plans are excluded because a credit check is required to access this added benefit.

How do I receive and make calls when roaming internationally, like contacting T-Mobile Customer Care?

Accepted Answer

To make a call while you are roaming overseas, whether you're calling within the country or to a location outside it, simply dial "+" and the country code, the city code (if necessary), and the local number. For example, if you want to reach T-Mobile Customer Care when you're roaming internationally, dial the plus sign (+) followed by 1-505-998-3793 from your mobile phone or by dialing 611 from a T-Mobile phone. From a landline phone, dial the International Direct Dialing prefix for the country you are in, followed by 1-505-998-3793. T-Mobile will not charge you for the call to Customer Care, but long-distance fees may apply if you call from a landline phone.

If I travel outside the 210+ countries and destinations, will my device have global coverage?

Accepted Answer

Customers must have a device with a compatible frequency for the country they are traveling to for their device to function. Most recent smartphones are quad-band, and support frequencies in almost any country. To confirm your device's compatibility, click on the "Check Coverage" button above, enter the country to which you are traveling, and your device model to see if your device is compatible with the frequency in that country. Customers should also note that traveling to a country outside of 210+ countries and destinations will incur text charges at $0.50 per text and will have the option to use Wi-Fi only for data purposes. Voice and data charges vary by country. See specific country rates by entering the country you are traveling to above.

Question 10

What if I have a qualifying Magenta, T-Mobile ONE™ or Simple Choice plan, but I don't want the international roaming capability?

Accepted Answer

You may call 611 from your T-Mobile device and block the feature on your account if you don't want the international roaming capability. If you would later like to remove this block, you may call the same number. Please note that only Primary Account Holders may remove the block. Also, Wi-Fi usage will not be blocked, and calls and texts over Wi-Fi may incur additional charges depending on where you're calling or texting.

What type of international features can I add to the T-Mobile No Credit Check plan?

Accepted Answer

You can add Magenta Plus to T-Mobile Magenta No Credit Check plans. No Credit Check plans already include 200MB of domestic roaming. The Magenta No Credit Check plan and 10GB No Credit Check plan do not include the 210+ countries and destinations or any international roaming. Customers with No Credit Check plans can call countries that do not result in a charge, like Canada and Mexico (with exception of 10GB No Credit Check plan available for $10/month), but these plans cannot incur additional charges on their bill, so calling to countries that incur charges is unavailable. You can also add Stateside International Talk (SIT) for $15 per month to your plan and get discounted calling rates to landlines in 70+ countries, and unlimited calling and texting to mobile numbers in 30+ countries.
