We’ve been home internet users for right at a year now. Ever since we got home internet through T-mobile, we have had issues with internet going out periodically. Generally, an unplug and wait for a couple minutes would solve the issue. About 3 weeks ago, the internet went out and never came back on. We went roughly 24 hours without any re-connection, so I contacted T-mobile, went through all the troubleshooting steps, and they agreed to send a new gateway. The old gateway sat on top of my 6 ft tall ikea cabinet the entire time we had it, only being touched when we needed to reboot it. Once the new gateway arrived, I took the old one in the box provided and returned it to the local T-Mobile store. They packaged it up and sent it off. Today, I received an email stating my old gateway was damaged and I would be charged $79.00 on my next bill. I contacted a rep and they were able to send pictures of the “damage”. I explained to the rep that this gateway is never touched, never been dropped, etc., so how in the world could it have been damaged?! They responded with “Well that’s why we recommend returning to a store” which I told him again that I did return it to a store and everything was open/unboxed for them to inspect. The best excuse they could provide is maybe it got damaged in transit and I’m still on the hook for this charge…. LONG STORY SHORT… Take photos of your gateway if you have to return it. Photograph every single side of it, and return it to a store and have them visually inspect the gateway as well. I know well this thing was in pristine physical condition. The only thing wrong with it was whatever software issues it had when it was sent to us. The second photo in this post is the “Gross Physical Damage” that they claim is worth the $79.00 charge…. Thanks T-Mobile!2.2KViews2likes8CommentsDoes T-Mobile have any plans to expose advanced settings on their gateways?
Is anyone able to provide a timeline for T-Mobile providing access to advanced router settings? (You know, the ones virtually all other ISPs provide) Currently T-Mobile’s home internet solution does not allow users to: Manage DNS settings Manage DHCP (IP addresses for client machines) Use any subnet other than 192.168.12.x connected directly to the gateway Put the gateway into bridge mode - this results in double network address translation (NAT) that breaks services like port forwarding and VPN Specify the channel to be used for wireless SSIDs (neither 2.4 nor 5Ghz) It would be really nice to know if T-Mobile has any intention of ever resolving these issues. Until they do, users will continue to be frustrated with just how inflexible and limiting the T-Mobile home internet solution actually is compared to other ISPs. When you factor in that most users get 150/30Mbps as average bandwidth, T-Mobile’s low cost is actually not that low - most ISPs will provide 400/35Mbps for just a few dollars more. So, when can we expect to get real access, on T-Mobile Home Internet, to the configuration options that almost all other ISPs provide already? It really is shameful that this hasn’t been addressed or resolved already!673Views1like2CommentsT-mobile gateway with seperate router
I’m just starting out on T-Mobile home internet but didn’t want to stop using my Asus Router which is set up nicely already to handle everything in this household (both wifi and ethernet). Here’s what I did to avoid any problems. I hooked my Router’s WAN port (which use to go to my cable modem) to one of the two ethernet ports on the back of the T-Mobile Gateway. To avoid double NAT and other problems, I went to Administration on my Asus RT-AX82U and changed it from Wireless Router to Access Point. I made sure to download the Device Discovery Utility linked under Access Point before saving the change so I could get the Router IP address to log into it after the Router reboots. Then just type the new IP into the browser to continue managing the Router. I hope this helps anyone that simply wants to keep using their Router and it’s setup with the T-Mobile Gateway. I can’t totally disable the wifi in the T-Mobile Gateway (mine is the Sagemcom), but I switched it to 5Ghz only in the Tmobile app to cut down on any interference (which hasn’t been a problem anyway) and still only use the WiFi from my Asus Router.7.5KViews9likes14CommentsT-mobile Promo rebate is a scam
I signed up online for Tmobile 5G internet on Dec 8th. The shipment of the 5G gateway arrived on Dec 10th. Same day, T-mobile started a promo for new 5G internet customers to offer $100 visa prepaid card. I applied for the rebate and it was declined. The Rebate center said my activation date was Dec 9th. How can my activation date be before I receive a gateway? The rebate center won't honor this. Won't even connect with the supervisor. I spend over 2K on annual basis and they don't care.1.1KViews2likes3CommentsMLB The Show does not work on my T-mobile 5g internet box.
MLB The Show does not work on my T-mobile 5g internet box. It will say “Challenge Failed” when trying to play an online match. The game works perfectly fine when i bring my xbox to my parents house. But when i bring it back to my wifi, it doesn’t work. I test the NAT type until it’s open, I reset the router, etc. I’ve done everything I can think of and there no solution. Does anyone have this same problem? This is the only game that won’t work either. This and NBA 2k brought me some issues. But i can play COD or shooters on my wifi… but cross play sports games seem to bring the issue14KViews3likes22Commentsunable to disconnect or schedule devices through tmobile 5G home router
Hi! I'm trying to disconnect or schedule devices through tmobile 5G home app but no luck. It gives a pop-up window 'unable to update device at this time ". I installed/uninstalled app, used other devices connected to the same router but no luck. Thank you807Views0likes6CommentsI wish the T-Mobile Home Internet Gateway was JUST a modem!!!
I just left Breezeline due to horrible service for over a month, and when it went out from home, my T-Mobile iPhone became my hotspot. After realizing it was more reliable than my landline Internet, I tried the T-Mobile Home Internet. I was shocked to get 700 down and 60 up, consistently, so after two weeks of successful stress testing I dropped Breezeline. With that said, here are my two main frustrations: I have a UniFi network with several APs in my home all connected to a UniFi switch and UniFi router… I am sure you can see where I’m going with this… 1) I do not need the Sagemcom Fast 5688W router OR 2) its WiFi. You cannot disable WiFi on the unit, or put it into bridge mode to bypass the router. I have tried getting into the device with no luck. So now, I have a double NAT situation and the T-Mobile gateway is emitting frequencies that are going unused. This is a huge oversight on T-Mobile’s end. T-Mobile, if you read these, I know a few people using your home internet, and they’re all complaining of the same thing - Forums are also littered with this feedback as well - Please listen. Allow 1) Turning the WiFi radios off, and 2) bypass the gateway’s routing using a bridge mode (I think that will work). This is very disappointing that it’s so locked down, but with that said, I am happy with the reliability. I just would love to see some additional functionality added as I’m sure I’m not the only person using my own router or mesh system with their gateway. If anyone has any suggestions would love to hear. Thanks!11KViews6likes18CommentsG4AR Change Wifi Channels 3 networks on same channel
