22 TopicsHigh-Speed Internet Gateway does not work with some apps on T-mobile Home Wifi Internet
I don’t know if anybody can help. Encountered a few deal breaking moments with T-mobile Home Wifi internet. I get a whopping 100-235mbps with my High-Speed Internet Gateway but it prevents full access to apps causing extreme lag spikes, pages not loading and video not playing with Amazon Prime Video (on PS4 and on Amazon Fire Stick 4k), TD Ameritrade trading platform for Windows 10, and to a lesser extent apps like Epic Games on PC I also have T-vision TV package, that works fine. So does Netflix. Epic games was able to be fixed once telling PC to use Google DNS 8.8.8.8. and 8.8.4.4. respectively. I had to use Nord VPN to get TD Ameritrade to function correctly without freezing at times, DNS change did not work here. Amazon prime video is still a no go, constantly stops and takes a long time to load again only to stop again. DNS change also did not resolve the issue. It should still work with Nord VPN because it bypasses all T-Mobile filters, but I did not buy T-mobile Home WiFi internet to need the VPN all the time, so I did not bother trying VPN with Prime Video. Is that something we can possibly fix in firmware? And soon please? Speaking of firmware. There is no place to get a new Firmware update which the High-Speed Internet Gateway critically needs. It lacks too many features. One the most needed features is to allow the High-Speed Internet Gateway to turn in just a modem and turn off all routing features so that users can bring their own independent routers to handle DHCP and other advanced functions. High-Speed Internet Gateway also has a bug where I can not fully disable all of the WiFi Signals. You can stop broadcast and SSID from being announced and reduce the radio power for 2.4ghz and 5ghz from 100% down to 12% but it is still not entirely off. I can still see a 5ghz band displaying a signal and allows me to connect when WiFi is supposed to be disabled. Apparently there is a 5Ghz low and 5Ghz high antenna mode. And the 5ghz high is the one that remains visible and usable. Can not be turned off. I don’t want to use the hub for wifi, just want to use hard wired internet. I hope to see these issues addressed in the next firmware update with a resources on where we can obtain the new firmware update file as right now there is no information on that anywhere for the new High-Speed Internet Gateway. At the very least I want to see the simple feature of turning the gateway into a modem all by itself and I can handle all the routing on my end instead and if it comes to it I can do a whole house VPN that way and bypass all the problems. Older gateways had the expert mode from what I could see, please bring that back too if you can. Thank you for reading! And for the help! Mike P.S. I have already tried turning it off and back on again, obviously does not work. VPN seems to be the only way to bypass all the problems, but since the unit can not disable routing to act solely as a modem, I can not use a separate router for DHCP and to run VPN for the whole house.9.5KViews7likes21CommentsWhy is T-Mobile service slow?
I switched to T-Mobile 2 years ago and it was great. I broke off from my family’s verizon plan to start my own. The coverage was about the same then so I saw no difference in speeds or pockets of dropped signal. But recently, the past few months have been absolutely infuriating and frustrating with the connection being so slow that my google maps loses connection. I live by a MAJOR city so I would expect to at least have some speed but no. I cannot load webpages, I cannot make phone calls for work, and I can’t even use my phone to pay bills. Why is their connection so slow recently? I’ve spoken to many “technicians” and they all say the same thing and offer the same advice but nothing has changed. Is anyone else experiencing just general slowness?2.9KViews5likes14CommentsHome internet speeds are unacceptable during the day.
It’s been 10 days since I started using T-Mobile Home Internet. I’m located right in downtown Seattle - My connection is considered “Excellent” and I have a direct view of the cell towers from my windows. The towers are less than 1 mile away. And that’s why I really need to rant about the speeds I’m getting during the day - Just now, I’m slowed to a crawl at 3 mbps for an hour. Then just now, I tested again and it’s at 1~ mbps. This seems to happen every other day with varying degrees of severity. I don’t have any issues during non-peak hours, but even then I’m only getting 30 mbps MAX. What more can you expect your customers to do here? These speeds are unacceptable during the daytime, which is basically at 3G speeds and it occurs way too often for comfort. Please do something about these speeds or no one is going to stick around, at least I won’t be.2KViews0likes10CommentsTorrent download speed is terrible
Legal torrents of course like Linux stuff. Ever since getting the silver can, torrent download speed is very sporadic and very slow. 2 Mbps is about as fast as I can get with it usually averaging about 650 Kbps. Sometimes it just starts slowing down for no reason to maybe 10 Kbps. Really strange. Regular Internet speed is around 160 Mbps and that’s on a Google mesh. I’m currently using qBittorrent with UTP only and some other tweaks. Couldn’t get Bittorent to go faster than 200 Kbps. Anyone found a solution to this?1.7KViews0likes2Comments5G Internet recently became unstable, any thoughts?
This is my 6th month on t-mobile 5G Internet. It used to be good for the first 4 or 5 months, but recently the service became unstable, connection on and off, download/upload speed sometimes are very slow, upload speed is sometimes < 1mpbs. Restart the modem sometimes helps. The modem stays where it was when service is good. When I encountered the issue, the signal on the model is “good” . Any thoughts?1.5KViews0likes5Commentssamsung s21 ultra 5g ultra slow
About a week and a half ago I started noticing my phone going INSANELY slow. Like, 21 minutes into watching a 5 minute and 37 second YouTube video and I'm only 1 minute and 12 seconds in slow. Can't access anything on data, can't download anything on wifi. And it's not a location issue cuz none of my other devices are affected. My partners phone through t-mobile works fine. Every other device that uses wifi is fine. It's just this phone I've tried everything. Restarting the phone. Having only one app open at a time. Resetting all settings. Factory reset (that took me well over 4 hours cuz it's soooo slow) Ive included pics of an update ive been trying to download for hours, 0.36 mb/s with full mobile coverage and 0.00 mb/s with full wifi coverage. Before this issue that would have downloaded in less than a minute. I'm at my wits end idk what else to do?1.2KViews0likes4CommentsSlow home internet even with extender
I have t-mobile home internet. It was slow from the gitgo, but this is literally the only service I can get out here. I can't even get DSL. I decided to try an external antenna to see if that would help. I cracked open the modem and hooked up the external antenna on the ports on the inside of the modem. The highest speed I can get is 7mb down and 3 up. Does anyone have any ideas how to help? I'm desperate I need this to be faster. On a side note, I know exactly where the closest tower is and have the external 2 band mimo antenna pointed right at it. Any help is greatly appreciated.Solved1.1KViews0likes8CommentsDownload speed
Home internet was told I would be in 5G coverage area but map only shows 4G. Modem shows 4 signal bars. When I reboot modem I get download speeds up to about 62 meg. After about 5 or 6 minutes it drops to anywhere from 8 to 15. Is there possibly something wrong with the modem? Has been this way since I got it about a month ago.Solved899Views4likes8CommentsHome Internet Speeds / connection quality
Hello, I signed up for T-mobile home internet almost 1 month ago. In the beginning service was well above expectations.. The download speed was around 250Mbps and the upload around 30Mbps. However, after about two weeks. Now it’s borderline unusable at times. I’ve attached a couple screenshots hoping to figure out what the cause might be? Pay special attention to the one speed test with very high jitter and ping… Any advice would be helpful..500Views0likes6CommentsInternet Speeds Cut by Half
For the first couple days when i got the 5g home wifi i was getting around 470-500 mbps down and around 45-60 mbps up but the next morning it dropped to around 180-210 mbps down and 25-35 mbps up. Has this happened to anyone else? Does it depend on how cloudy it is? Im just confused why it was cut in half in less than a day. Been thinking about getting the MIMO antennas to see if i can get my old speed back.499Views0likes5Comments
