Reading on T-Mobile site indicates that our i-phones / mobile phones will work internationally. No set up, no additional fees. Is this true? I was traveling in Europe in October and purchased an international data pass. It worked well but I ran out of data toward the end of the trip. I purchased another 5 GB (or perhaps 15, I forget). I received all the proper confirmations and was charged but I never received speeds above the 256 kbps. This continued for 5 days, regardless of restarting the phone, having 5G, being in downtown vs. countryside, etc. It was like the pass never got activated. Fast forward to December… Got to Europe again and received a text stating I had 5 GB of FREE high-speed data. Perfect. It worked beautifully. However, when it ran out, I purchased an international pass (5 GB this time). Again, received all proper notifications, restarted phone, etc. and haven’t received speeds over 256 kbps. TL:DR it seems like the first batch of international data with T-mobile works beautifully but then when I purchase/acquire a second pass… it never formally activates on the backend, regardless of what I do. Any ideas? Roaming is on, everything has been restarted, I’ve tried speed tests all over… everywhere from Zurich to Svalbard… it’s clearly not an issue with the device itself as it worked well for Pass #1 on each visit and failed to activate with Pass #2.Solved4.4KViews0likes5CommentsInternational Block
By call 611 , I requested to activate international call blocking for all my lines. Few minutes later I can see all my line has feature international blocking add on. Plus, I activate charged roaming feature as well. My brother is travelling in Europe ( which include 215 Countries ) does not get signal data roaming at all. I call support multiple times, and they said “ make sure roaming is on” “ turn off and off” , “ everything clear just wait “. No luck And finally one of them told me “ I need to turn off your International call blocking add on “. As soon as he disables, my brother send me a message got LTE signal and data works as it should. My understanding the ILD (International long distance) blocking is to avoid making international calls and texting to overseas as explained on Tmobile support article as follow: https://www.t-mobile.com/support/coverage/stateside-international-calling-and-texting-services#:~:text=We%20offer%20the%20ability%20to,us%20by%20message%20or%20social. But not to block the data roaming on 215 Countries list. Why that ILD add on block the data roaming as well? My friend assures me “ My tmobile account have ILD block add on , but have never problem with data roaming in overseas “ Tech support said “ once you turn on ILD block add on , you never get roaming data in overseas“ Please advise, I just want to prevent to call / texting overseas, but need data roaming as 215 Countries list . Hello, everyone! Next month, my friends and I will be traveling to Europe for about two weeks. We will be using Delta Airlines and will also be taking a Royal Caribbean cruise for one of the two weeks. The countries that we will be visiting will include: Italy Greece Croatia France I recently switched to T-Mobile last week and am currently on the Magenta Max plan. While the representative that assisted me at the store was very informative, I realized belatedly that I had forgotten to ask a few questions in regards to how my plan will keep me connected during my trip. I have done a few searches on the website, but I feel like it doesn’t fully answer the questions that I have unless I am somehow overlooking it. The website mentions GoGo InFlight Wi-Fi - assuming that my flights allows me to utilize this, will it be unlimited or just one hour of usage? There would be 5 flights in two weeks, so if they all have this would that cover all flights or is there a limit to how many times I could use it? The website also says that for Magenta Max plans, I would give unlimited data and text and low-rate calling while traveling abroad for the aforementioned countries - is this true? Would there be any additional fees for using my data or texting? I am not sure how roaming works. Would I still have service during the cruise? I’m sure it may be spotty as there would be a few days at sea, but would it still somewhat work? I assume it would also have unlimited data and text and low-rate calling, but I have the same question about additional fees. And again, no idea how roaming works. Are there additional charges I should be concerned about? I apologize for the many questions and wordiness of my post. I just want to be sure I am prepared in advance. Wife and I have been in Japan for a week using the “Free Unlimited Data” which is clearly part of our Magenta plan. We had gotten a text message from T-Mobile when arriving verifying that we could enjoy our free unlimited data in Japan. Suddenly today we got a text message from T-Mobile saying that our international roaming charges were up to $50. An hour later we got a message saying that they were now $100. We panicked and turned off cellular data until we could get to the hotel and call T-Mobile. The support person said that we now owed $150. First she said it was because Japan was not covered in unlimited data, but I pointed out that the web site said otherwise. She went away and came back and said that the charges were there because we did not turn off “Data Roaming”. What?? The T-Mobile International checklist says to insure that data roaming is turned on! She told us she could remove the charges if we bought the $50 30-day International data plan on one of our two phones, and that we should turn off data roaming on the other phone. Her English was not great and I could not get a good explanation out of her as to why we needed to have data roaming turned off when the plan touted in Japan free data roaming. Every time I asked her something she would have to put me on hold to go ask someone else. We finally agreed to pay the $50 in order to have the $150 removed. After the transaction was complete she advised me to turn off data roaming on both phones. So we did all of this, and now my phone, supposedly with the new $50 plan and with Cellular Data on and Data Roaming off, will not make a cellular data connection at all. My wife’s phone without the $50 plan and with the same cellular settings (data on and roaming off) does make an LTE connection while standing right next to me and connected to the same cell network. I searched the T-Mobile web site and there is NO indication anywhere that we have to turn off data roaming with the unlimited international plans. I’m very confused and I don’t want to spend another hour of my vacation on the phone with T-Mobile, but I need data for maps, texting, and local information. Can any one explain this? I am in Mexico right now and my data is not working. Every time I come here, I get 5G high speed data and then unlimited low speed data, every month, for 3 months. I always get a “Welcome to Mexico” text when I land. However, this last trip I have not gotten a “Welcome to Mexico” text and I have been here for 2 months already. My phone has said no service since I have been here and I haven’t had any data! I have a Magenta plan and I know this is supposed to be included.
