Why is my mobile hotspot speeds way faster than my home internet speeds? i need the antenna my phone uses in my home internet box lol! My phone is always on 5g but my home internet grabs at the 4g signal im guessing because its stronger? is there anyway i can make it connect to the 5g one everytime? when it does connect to the 5g signal (and the connection bars are maybe 2-4 bars, never full) it gets amazing speeds (100+ mbps down 60+ up) but when its connected to the 4g (full bars) its so freaking slow. Can anyone help? My phone is literally sitting beside the modem picking up 50+ mbps while the modem is barely geting 4 mbps. (of course unless it connects to the 5g network then its fine)1.1KViews0likes1Commentxbox live party chat not working with mobile hotspot
Hello, i recently had to switch cellphone providers from sprint to tmobile since sprint merged. For years i have played xbox live with a mobile hotspot all the way back to when ntelos was still around. Its always worked fine until i had to switch to tmobiles network and now i cant join any xbox live parties whatsoever. This has never been an issue until now, ive tried speaking with representatives and gotten no help or real answers as to why this is. Ive read on here that others have had similar issues with tmobile but they were using a gateway router. Im using the hotspot off my phone which again, has always worked great until having to switch to tmobile. Anyone know a fix?1.1KViews1like1CommentHotspot device disconnecting from T-mo internet
Recently purchased a T-mobile branded 5G hotspot, Model D53. Gets consistent 5g signal but it loses its ability to connect / relay internet traffic after about 30 - 40 minutes. Then I have to restart the device to get it to begin allowing network connections again. So far I’ve reset the SIM card, reset the device to factory, both with no changes in the functionality. Anyone seen similar issues and resolved them?699Views1like5CommentsUnstable Hotspot and MMS Issue
Hi All. I am having a strange and annoying issue. I have an unlocked Samsung S21. When I use the APN provided by T-Mobile, I have a very unstable phone hotspot. I turn on the hotspot; sometimes it connects, sometimes it doesn’t. If it connects, it disconnects quickly. I have to turn on and off airplane mode multiple times to get it to work. I found a work around by creating a new APN for the phone. I changed the APN Protocol to IPv4/IPv6 and the APN roaming protocal: to IPv4/IPv6. With those settings, the phone hotspot works. Great right? Almost. Unfortunately, with those settings, I can no longer send group MMS. And to make matters stranger, my wife has an identical phone without hotspot issues. Can you help please? -Thanks! whenever i connect my laptop to my phone’s mobile hotspot, i can never get these to work: ssh connection to my AWS environment running apt-get update / yum updates on my Ubuntu distro embedded in my Windows 10 laptop installing anything via Mac Terminal on my Macbook Pro, such as RVM / NVM / wget calls / telnet calls, etc the most common error i get in all the above use-cases is some variant of a “Network is unreachable” error message anyone else run into this issue? These issues defeat the point of paying for mobile hotspot since i have to be able to actually work using the hotspot : )399Views1like1CommentHotspot Usage when Not using Hotspot | Tidal running slow
I wanted to share my experience in case others are facing a similar issue: I received a new Samsung S24 in February. Since then, I've been receiving notifications about exceeding my hotspot data usage, even though the hotspot is turned off. This seemed strange. I reported this to T-Mobile support, but they kept pointing to their system showing I was using hotspot data and advised me to turn it off. Additionally, I use Tidal for music streaming. Recently, I've been unable to stream music using mobile data as it was extremely slow or wouldn't load at all. Today, after receiving another hotspot usage message (indicating I exceeded the 5GB cap without using the hotspot), I noticed my Tidal streaming stopped working on mobile data this billing cycle. I checked my phone's data usage, and it showed Tidal had used over 5GB of mobile data—the exact amount as the hotspot data cap. It seems T-Mobile's system was misreporting Tidal's mobile data usage as hotspot data. I tried explaining this to support, but they didn't acknowledge it. They reset the network connection to my phone, which seemed to resolve the issue. I suspect this problem might be related to T-Mobile's "Music Freedom" feature included in my plan, which is supposed to prioritize or differently handle music streaming traffic.199Views2likes3Comments5 G Hotspot problem
I have the recently new 5G hotspot and a problem. My laptop can connect just fine, but when trying to use browser to connect to any site, I get PR_CONNECT_RESET_ERROR or similar depending on which browser I use, among them chrome, edge and firefox. I have tried changing the security and encryption parameters without success. I have also tried with two different laptops. Both of these laptops connect successfully with my home wifi router - without having had to change any security or encryption parameters. I have also used my laptop on numerous wifi networks without difficulty. Does anyone have any ideas?133Views0likes2CommentsLG Velvet 5G Hotspot keeps "reconnecting"
Attempted to use the hotspot on my LG Velvet 5G. It continuously cycles, in other words, it will be in 5G mode, then the 5G icon disappears and it comes back in 2-3 seconds. When it does this, all connected devices (my laptop) are knocked off and have to reconnect. It happens on a 2-3 minute basis. Since I have to use a VPN, this renders the hotspot useless. I’ve done all the standard things, rebooted, reconfigured, tried 2.4ghz and 5ghz wifi hotspot options. This worked before the last upgrade. I drove around a couple of places to ensure this is not my local tower, same behavior. Anyone else experiencing this?130Views0likes1Comment
