I have one of the original white retangular boxes. I have attempted to call and complain about wifi drops without success. Last person manged to factory reset and I had to reactivate everything. It has always happened as a blip with reconnection (although enought to kick me off of VPN). But lately past fee weeks it has been like clock work between 2-2:30PM and it is down for at least 30 minutes. Anyone have any suggestions. I tried to check updates but wasn’t sure if the list was in chrono order - Ex the update at the top most recent. Calling support makes my BP go up. Spent 45 minutes today just getting some type of ID - but it appears I can’t use that to get any help either. Thanks.

You need to determine if the drops are due to the local WIFI OR the cellular delivery. When you see the disruption, check the LED status reporting on the unit for both WIFI and cellular signaling. I dont have the older LTE device so I am not familiar with them. If the disruption is so regular can you think of anything you have in hour home that could activate at that time? Maybe it is some transient signal sent over the electrical line that causes an issue for the router/gateway? How long have you seen the behavior? Is this a recent behavior or has it been intermittent before?
If it is a cellular signal loss it would be good to talk to T-Mobile support and find out if there is work being done on tower equipment in your area. With the move to 5G and T-Mobile’s buy of Sprint’s access channels and all you might want to consider and ask T-Mobile about upgrade possibilities. I know the BP may go up but dealing with the disruptions daily will probably do the same.

OK another thing to investigate. If you investigate new businesses between you and the tower maybe it is some sort of operation that produces RF and that impacts the signal by inducing noise that results in the signal drop. Maybe if there is a train yard in between where box cars are sitting on a rail siding for a period of time then when they are moved the interference to the signal is removed. Say like a light rail line where trains run at a regular interval and at one point they have to take a train and idle it for a bit.
It could be others on the tower experience similar disruptions and T-Mobile has some records that would reflect similar calls on the same tower.
When I was working in networking support there was a very odd case where the customer’s wireless LAN would be completely disrupted at the same time at regular intervals. When one of our engineers was there the event took place. The cause of the disruption was a barge that was passing in the canal and their radios were so strong when they were in the proximity it caused the wireless network to just fail. That was in the canals in Amsterdam so not likely to be a problem for you but just saying external influences can have a big impact on cellular distribution. Something like emergency services or police services have radios that might be a factor in some rare instances.

I appreciate you taking the time to respond. I don’t have anything in my home (that I am aware) that would cause the disruption. I have always experienced drops from day one but were more intermittent. The 2-230pm thing has started in the last month or so. At first I thought it was my work VPN disconnecting me auto at 8 hours...but that’s not the case. My LTE and WiFi lights are always green (unless I restart the box); my T-mobile phone app will same I connected with a weak signal even when I don’t have any connection. Agian, thank you so much for response.

Still having issues, but now I have added a 7am drop along with the 2:30pm drop. I assume it must be something external. Some weekend, I need to see if happens on Sat/Sun. Rebooting gateway does not always resolve. Wondering if I need a new gateway? I have the white box? As an FYI, when I check home internet availability today on T-mobile’s site via address - indicates it is Not available at my home!

Curious, the drop event with a 7.5 hour interval now for the same behavior. So you are referring to the modem/gateway you have is the prior generation 4G LTE version I must assume. It does sound like an external influence especially given the periodic nature of the event. Do you have any idea how strong the cellular signal is? Does that router/gateway provide metrics or just generic bars to represent the strength of the signal? You have the Askey LTE Wi-Fi Gateway?
You might try using the chat from the marketing side of the T-Mobile business. At the top of the page the Coverage drop down has the option for Rural 5G & Internet. When that page renders there is a chat window presented at the bottom right. It will start out as a BOT and will ask you to login to your account. Once that is done you should see the option to chat with a live agent. If/when you get with a live agent via the chat. Explain that you are not satisfied with the T-Mobile solution you have and that you are considering another service. They will then probably direct your chat to a customer retention expert/agent. Then you can go a little more with the service being a problem and if it would be possible to upgrade to a newer gateway vs the LTE gateway you have. It might be service for the 5G is due in the area and the current information on the T-Mobile site is just not up to date with regard to your location. Having a text chat with a live agent removes the accent factor for an agent in another country. Maybe you will get lucky and get some answers that are positive.
Without understanding of the area where you are and the proximity to the tower(s) or the strength of the signal it is really hard to say what is the best next action to try. If you have explored multiple locations in your home for the signal and found no better location I am not sure what is the next best step with that LTE router. The information I can see on T-Mobile’s site for the Askey LTE gateway is pretty normal but does not seem to suggest there are any metrics for the signaling. It sounds as if the signal strength may be weak but without knowing what sorts of speeds are possible or cellular metrics it is really hard to do much. If you have an Android cell phone there are applications that will provide metrics about the 4G signals. If you have an Apple iPhone it can be put into diagnostic mode to get cellular metrics reporting. It is rather confusing to someone not familiar with it but the metrics about the signal strength and quality and signal to noise ratio do provide some valuable information about the signal and help clarify expectations.
You might try getting to a customer retention person via the marketing text path and see if they can offer an alternative to the older 4G LTE router. It is worth a shot.

White box - Tmobile calls it Home Internet LTE WiFI Gateway (newer ones look like cylinder towers).
I find it very curious that according to Tmobile Home Internet Website that service is not available based on my street address and phone number.
Based on another thread I attempted htt/: Ip address but it kept timing out. May need to close everything to try….
Based on Tmobile App:
Firmware - 1443
IMEI, IMSI, ICCID and MSISDN numbers are given (I didn’t list because wasn’t sure if any were personally idedtifiable)
Advanced Celullar Metrics
CQI

The IMEI, IMSI, ICCID and MSISDN numbers you should NOT post into the conversations.
There are two newer gateways both 5G. The Nokia cylinder shape, and the Arcadyan squarish with rounded corners. The Arcadyan is the newer one. I have the Nokia gateway. I would rather have the Nokia than the Arcadyan as the reporting and configuration of the Arcadyan is much more limited. I am not impressed with that one.

...continued...(premature send :) )
CQI - 26011405
RSSI - negative 79
BANDW 15
CID 278
CGI 26011405
RSRQ negative 11
RSRP negative 108
SINR negative 3.6
BAND 2
TAC 44803
I think I saw somewhere and not can’t find again, that RSRP(?) is weak...not sure.
Your right, I know I need to call...but getting someone that actually knows anything versus flipping through a play book is hard.
Enjoy your Sunday.

If it is the Askey LTE gateway you should be able to just put 192.168.12.1 into the browser URL window and hit enter. That should take you there.

This should help. The -108 is a bit on the low side so that explains a bit. The RSRQ is good but with a weak signal even if it is clean the bounce could be more prominent maybe.
