Home internet gateway/router?

Does anyone know if T-Mobile will come out with an update where you can turn off the wifi and just use Ethernet? So someone could add your own router without all these different channels so close together.  This router/gateway is very limited that's provided for us tech users.  Doesn’t even have a web interface so you can adjust settings to your liking.
