T-Mobile For Business Direct-To-Cell Service

I have two tablet lines currently on a T-Mobile for Business account. With the T-Mobile Direct-To-Cell service, would I be able to text through satellites, if I am "off the grid"?

I emailed T-Mobile For Business asking if my lines of service will work with the Direct To Cell feature and I received this response. I did reply with the information they requested and hope to hear back soon.

    Greetings Jim,

Thank you for reaching out to us with your question regarding the Direct To Cell feature. We are here to help ensure you have the best experience with our services.

To determine if your lines of service will be compatible with the Direct to Cell feature when it becomes available, please take note we will be needing the following:

    • Your complete full first and last name on the body of email
    • 9-digit Account Number or any 10-digit mobile number on the account
    • Specific plan or type of service you are currently using with T-Mobile
    • Contact Number (can be used in case we have clarification that must be done to avoid having delays)

This information will help us check the compatibility and provide you with accurate details.

Finally, you can view the PDF file for the listed contact information of each account we provide. You can contact them directly based on your account type.

We know this will cause a delay in your request, still. We hope to resolve this soon. Have a great day!

      Hello Jim,

Hope all is well you and thanks for reaching out to us regarding the Direct to cell and we are excited about this new technology that is evolving here at T-Mobile.

Jim, we do understand that you would like to know a bit more about the Direct to Cell, and as of now T-Mobile and Starlink asked for and received a Special Temporary Authority (STA) from the FCC to operate our T-Mobile Starlink Direct-to-Cellular service over Hurricane Milton’s projected path. Wireless emergency alerts and SMS, including the ability to text 911, are now enabled in Florida as well as the areas previously impacted by Hurricane Helene. We’ll have more to share about how we bring these exciting new services to the market in the future.

However, to answer your question once Direct to Cell is fully launched, if the things below apply you will have access to Direct to Cell.

If your wireless provider uses the T-Mobile network and you have one of the following devices, T-Mobile Starlink is available for SMS messaging:

      Mobile Provider

All SIM cards and eSIM’s issued by T-Mobile will have access to this service.

      MVNOs using the T-Mobile network

      Devices

      All Android devices supported

iPhone 13 and older are supported

Again Jim, thanks for reaching out to us and I hope the information I provided will be helpful to you. If you have any other questions or concerns regarding case 19201xxx, please feel free to email us back.

      Best Regards!

      Artisha M.

The service operates in the 1900 MHz band, existing phones will be able to make the connection.

Is your device capable of direct to satellite connections?  You need a compatible device to access satellites.

I have a Samsung S24, and in rural California, I only get Emergency SoS on At&t and Verizon. Tmobile  business tells me that it isn’t "officially launched ", and even the original page has disappeared.
