Cancelled but still got collections

I cancelled my service back in Aug and paid the balance then i got a collections in the mail today saying i owe money for not paying my bill.  Then i was told my service was NEVER turned off and i still have an active account.  I was on the business line and was told i could cancel anytime i wanted.  So WHY DO I HAVE A BILL IF I DONT USE THE SERVICE

    If you cancel on your due date you will receive another months bill . You need to cancel before your next billing cycle . For me my billing cycle is the 24th and payment is on the 16th of the following month, so if I wanted to cancel my service I would need to do it the 23rd or before to avoid another months payment.

    It sounds like there may have been a miscommunication or an error in processing your cancellation. I recommend reaching out to the service provider's billing or retention department with proof of your August payment and cancellation request. They should be able to review your account and resolve the issue for you.
