third party gateway recommendations

I need to be able to configure my network. Adding a router is fine but the stupid gateway g4ar doesn't let you disable wifi, restrict mac addresses, or anything. I've heard the $700 nighthawk router gateway by Netgear should work. Anyone know of anything cheaper? I've emailed inseego but seems the only way to get the inseego fx3100 is to pay T-Mobile per gigabyte in business class internet.
