Change WiFi (not admin) password on gateway

Hi
Recently switched to T-Mobile home 5g. I am pretty sure my box model is Sagemcom Fast 5688W.  The interface on my PC Browser 192.168.12.1 is very basic and so I installed the app, T-Life, on my phone.

I am trying to change the WiFi password but there is only an option to change the admin password. I called the support desk and spent an hour on the phone but she kept telling me to change the admin password- there was a language barrier I guess, couldn't make her understand what I wanted.

I see an option to share the WiFi password but none to change it.

Also, I see an option to create a new WiFi network- so is that what I do? create a new n/w with a new pwd and then disable the default one?

TIA

  • I don't think the T-Life app lets you change a password for the WiFi. I ended up creating a new network with my own password and then deleted the default WiFi n/w that came with the box. Some older threads refer to a T-Mobile internet app. While I can find this app in Google Play Store and am able to install it, it requires some other "hub" app which doesn't seem to be available anymore

You can change the Wi-Fi password in the T Life app. Keep in mind that this will require every device that is connected to be re-connected by you.

T Life app instructions to change Wi-Fi Password:

Tap Internet (at the top). Tap My Wi-Fi (at the top).

In the My networks section, tap the > (right arrow) for the network you want to change.

In the General details section, tap the eye symbol in the Wi-Fi network password box.

    Edit the password.

    Tap Save at the bottom.

It takes a few minutes to update the gateway. Any devices that are connected to this network will need to be re-connected with the updated password.

With the original default WiFi n/w I could see the eye icon and tap on it but the pwd field remained write-protected.
I don't seem to have that problem with the new n/w I created.
      Thanks anyway
