Device unlock

I purchased this phone from sprint now tmobile back on Mon, Nov 22, 2021.

I had a plan with sprint back then but switched to mint mobile and didnt think to unlock my phone beforehand. I realize now I was able to use Mint because they are on tmobile's network. Because I was on sprint so long ago, tmobile customer service has been unable to pull up my account so that I can get my phone unlocked. They told me to go into a tmobile store with my ID and they should have more options for me. I did this and was basically told to go to apple customer service. I did that and apple sent me right back to tmobile. So now here I am lost, confused, and quite frankly annoyed. IMEI check shows the device lock is from tmobile and no one at tmobile can help me. I feel like I'm being held hostage.

I read about an FCC rule regarding unlocking phones requires participating carriers to unlock mobile devices for customers and former customers in good standing who have fulfilled their service contracts, device financing plans, or paid applicable early termination fees. My phone is paid off and I dont owe any money. Why can no one help me with this issue? Do I need to file a formal complaint with the FCC before I get any help? Please advise. Thank you in advance.

The rules for SIM unlocks as set by the FCC are different now than they were back in the Sprint days.  Even T-Mobile's SIM Unlock Policy has changed a lot since then.  This is one of the very few SIM unlock requests where the person read the SIM Unlock Policy requirements before asking and have everything they need to make the request.
