Online Gaming and Gateway

Does anyone have advice for getting the best connection between the Gateway and an Xbox series X?  The Gateway is doing fine with streaming services, but is very slow with online gaming.  I frequently get disconnected and there is a lot of lag.  Would hardwiring the Gateway to the Xbox help?  What about the placement of the Gateway itself?  Thanks!
