Data and wifi keep dropping out

For the last 3 days both my phone data connection and home wifi keep dropping out.  Signal at the top of the phone still says connected, but trying to connect to emails or websites say otherwise. 

Have had a little better connection after deselecting 2G service, but still having occasional problems.  

Router was turned off for a full minute and restarted, and phone has had most apps force stopped, and powered off multiple times. 

What's going on?
