After 20 years with T-Mobile, Starlink may drive me away
I've had up to 7 lines with T-Mobile and had no plans to look for a different carrier. When T-Mobile announced a deal with Starlink, I suddenly felt a need to look into switching carriers. I cannot feel good about doing business with any company that promotes and pays for services from Musk's companies. The man is awful on so many levels and is now involved in the decimation of our government institutions and services, I wish for all of his businesses to fail so that he can no longer wield the power of his wealth.
If there were some assurance that T-Mobile would walk away from Starlink, I'd really prefer to remain a customer.

I've been with T-Mobile over 20 years. I've been pretty happy with my cell service -- it's not perfect, but I liked the company and Sievert and the customer service enough that I put up with the occasional sketchy reception when traveling. But I can't stay with them if they go into partnership with musk. I just can't. That man has caused more damage to the country in the past four months than Reagan did in 8 years. He's despicable, amoral, heartless, kind of an idiot, and lacks an sort of humanity. I'm shocked that Sievert is doing this. I thought he was one of the good guys. :(

Sievert will be departing T-Mobile before his contact is up. He has not met the expectations of the parent company and stock holders. Starlink is here to stay. It won't be long before other carriers jump on board with AST being quite far behind.

T-Mobile stock has done quite well. It has nearly doubled since 2023. I do think that there will be a parting of the ways - similar but different to Legere.
Legere was the person who could sell / promote T-Mobile and got out once T-Mobile / Sprint deal was done (and cashed out). That was his purpose.
Mike on the other hand is dealing with the financial reality of deals from Legere's era. (Uncarrier) and cost of the merger and trying to build/deploy and make T-Mobile into ... a carrier, not unlike AT&T and Verizon and eat their lunch. Subscribers are getting weary of this, however, and T-Mobile's customer service just isn't there.. its more like Sprint in that department, but more of 'take it or leave (it)' attitude.

It also sucks. I can't do anything and it keeps defaulting to that over my home Wi-Fi.

Are you talking about the satellite service kicking you off wifi calling? I had to have the satellite service shut off because no calls could be made while the satellite was in control. My home has almost zero cell service so wifi calling is mandatory. Customer service had zero idea what I was talking about. With absolutely no wayvto get input to the satellite service dept I had them turn it off. It's a shame it works great except for the wifi issue.

Did you leave? It is an option and not forced one ☝️

It's 100% optional. If they left, T-Mobile Starlink will still show up on other carriers devices in areas where there is no service, so they can't escape it unless they downgrade to a cellular device that isn't compatible with Starlink. Starlink is available as a standalone option for people using other carriers as well to purchase through T-Mobile. The girlfriend's Dad's AT&T s23 Ultra picks it up becauae they live in an area not covered by any cellular carrier.

I agree, Musk is a raging fascist! I would stay with T Mobile, but any company that deals with a company owned by Musk I will not do business with. I will give it a month. If, however, T Mobile decides to continue a relationship with Starlink I will find a different carrier.

Why are you upset with a man that is trying to make Gov more efficient and root out systemic fraud?

This is not the place to bring up political opinions. Go over to the mainstream media news network platforms to post such topics. This community is for Q & A related to T-Mobile network, products and services. These posts are really getting ridiculous.
In regards to Starlink, it is your option whether or not you want to sign up for the beta. T-Mobile isn't forcing you to sign up for Starlink and it will later be implemented as an optional add-on for $0 on the Go5G Next plan and $15 a month on all other plans. I myself think satellite networks operating where traditional cell towers can't reach will be a wonderful service to have, especially for in case of emergencies, regardless of which company owns and operates the satellite networks.

Did you forget about "Freedom of Speech". This is a chat forum & we have the right to voice our opinions. Especially when a Company you pay your hard-earned money for is dealing with someone like Musk. It does not matter if you choose to use Starlink or not. It is the principle. It is our right to say, "Use It & Lose Us!" We should not support a man or a Company who is or helping to destroy our country. If we don't stand up for what is right, we will give up everything this country was founded on. Saying nothing is like giving up! If you disagree that is your right but telling others what to do is not.

There are many who would oppose your opinion. It's Greed more than one man destroying our country. Review this countries history and look at the dark times and what caused it. It's never been one man. You should be upset with this company for not providing service. That's my issue. They are blaming the phone as always. They were ready to send me a new phone. I stopped this nonsense and made the representative think logical for a moment. My phone works fine closer to the city.
So why don't you think logical for a moment too.
And then, have a good weekend.

You, as a consumer , have to sign up to use StarLink. with the exception of one plan, you won't get Starlink. Sadly, almost every conpany has someone they deal with, including At&t and Verizon that you will dislike. ie. At&t is cozy with many federal agencies, and allow your data to be consumed without your knowledge.
