Swapping phones on the same plan when the phone is still locked
I have iPhone 12 Pro and my son has iPhone 15 Pro Max.
My iPhone 12 is passed the 2 year contract and is unlocked.
His iPhone 15 is only half way through the 2 year contract and still is locked.
I just purchased iPhone 16 Pro and will be trading in my iPhone 12.
I want to know if below is possible:
- Transfer son's iPhone 15 to 16 and move 15 phone number to 16.
- Transfer my iPhone 12 to 15 and move 12 phone number to 15.
- Then trade in iPhone 12.
At the end, my son will have the new iPhone 16 Pro and I'll have his iPhone 15 Pro Max while we both keep our own phone numbers. Not sure if it's possible when my son's iPhone 15 Pro Max is still locked.

Additional question. I bought this iPhone 16 Pro with a promotion with a trade in. I want to make sure that by doing this swap, I won't be messing with this promotion and/or trade in.
