Traveling to Japan
I will be traveling to Japan to visit my son in the Navy for two weeks this summer. I know can rent the wifi hotspots at the airport or get the international SIM card. My phone is currently locked. I have a Samsung and went in the settings and was able to a temporary unlock for it looks like 30 days. My question is how often can I do that? Is the best course of action to get the international SIM card when I arrive in Japan. Can I still make and receive calls at my number? I have never traveled internationally, outside of Canada, so I have no experience with this, but we plan to use our phones for translating, converting money, and using Google Maps. How much is it to get coverage through T-Mobile for Japan? What does it cover and is it worth it? Thanks in advance!!RCQ9252 years agoNewbie Caller36KViews0likes3CommentsUsing my phone in the Philippines
I’m on the Magenta Max 55 plan and will be traveling to the Philippines later this month. I see a lot of confusing and contradictory information about costs and coverage while I’m there. In some places TMobile says the Philippines aren’t covered, in some places it says it is. Will there be fees for voice, text or data while in the Philippines? Are there limits on voice, text or data? Will buying an International Pass make any difference? And if you can point me to where I can find these questions answered clearly I’d really appreciate it. Thank you. -BrianBrian750193 years agoRoaming Rookie34KViews2likes7CommentsUsing my phone in Mexico
I am a T-Mobile subscriber and I am wondering if I can use my phone when I am in Cancun, Mexico next week? If so, when I am calling back to the US from Mexico, do I need to input an international code in front of the number I am calling and will I use the ‘1’ before the number? I have international roaming available as part of plan, but phone won’t connect to internet. I am currently in a city called Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India. The phone connects to a strong signal from Vodafone - India (and shows all bars are up on signal anywhere in city). But, when i try to start up chrome browser, it immediately shows “NO INTERNET”. Has been consistently doing it for past few days that i have been here. The obvious checks (Mobile data, Data roaming, Network operator etc) have all been checked. So, i am starting to think that vodafone india is throttling or cheating Tmobile on their end of the deal. If not, how can tmobile give me data service here ? I need to get this working soon, since i will be india for a while…..currently, i am getting by only on wifi connects.nsamuel4 years agoNewbie Caller26KViews1like41CommentsInternational Roaming - Not connecting
I can’t get international roaming to connect to the internet even though all my settings are correct. We have unlimited data and texting, internationally. I have a feeling T Mobile is blocking my number from roaming but they can’t figure it out. My wife on the same plan has working roaming - Any suggestions? T mobile cusomer care or technical could not resolve the issue - it’s as though they are not recognizing my number, associated with the plan…bjdouglas2 years agoRoaming Rookie22KViews1like21CommentsInternational Travel
Reading on T-Mobile site indicates that our i-phones / mobile phones will work internationally. No set up, no additional fees. Is this true? If not, what is needed to use a phone internationally (one country in Europe) for a week. Hi: I have a set of travel plans that calls for me to visit three different countries this month, but each time, I travel and come back home and then go to the next country. I am intending to purchase the 30 day International Pass (15GB) plan. So, the questions that i have are: Once I activate the plan for 30 days, whenever I visit home, the data that I use at home would still be counted towards the International Pass or will it be against my local usage? Essentially, the question is if I am away from home for 20 days, will the 15GB be measured against only those 20 days or all 30 days from the time of activation? Does the unlimited calling mean that when I am travelling internationally, any calls to other than the local country and the United States are considered free, or only allowed countries for free calling are visiting country and home (United States)? Your help on this very much appreciated. Thanks.Solved19KViews0likes8CommentsService in Spain
I will be in Spain next month and would like to know if the TMobile service there is usable. In the past I’ve travelled to other European countries and TMobile service was available, but most of the times, it was painfully slow. Especially if I needed to use Google Maps to find my ways around. It was like 2G. I’m thinking that I might have to get an eSim so I have fast internet speed.
