Alleged USAID Probe Into Starlink Raises Elon Musk Conflict Concerns
Does T-Mobile think supporting Russian Aggression in Ukraine is ok? https://www.newsweek.com/usaid-elon-musk-starlink-probe-ukraine-2027054 Alleged USAID Probe Into Starlink Raises Elon Musk Conflict Concerns Theo Burman USAID was investigating its relationship with Starlink just months before tech billionaire Elon Musk attempted to shut the agency down, according to reports. The freezes and cuts to the foreign aid department, spearheaded by Musk as head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), raise questions of a potential conflict of interest, as Musk is the owner of Starlink, a subsidiary of his company SpaceX. Newsweek contacted Elon Musk and Starlink through SpaceX via email. Why It Matters Fears that Musk and others could use their positions in government to benefit themselves have been around since President Donald Trump won the 2024 election. The move to dismantle USAID is the first major policy decision Musk has made, and the way it is handled will be indicative of how powerful he will be over the next four years. What To Know During a hearing at the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Oversight and Accountability in September, USAID Inspector General Paul K. Martin told Congress that the agency was examining its relationship with Starlink, one of Musk's most prominent tech ventures. In 2022, USAID and Starlink collaborated to provide 5,000 Starlink terminals to Ukraine, to give the country fighting Russian invasion access to Musk's advanced internet system, operated through SpaceX, as reported by The Lever. "In addition to another ongoing audit on direct budget support, we are examining USAID's Energy Security Project, USAID's oversight of Starlink Satellite Terminals provided to the Ukrainian government, and USAID's efforts to protect against sexual exploitation and abuse in Ukraine," Martin told Congress. "When completed, we look forward to sharing the findings of these reports with the subcommittee." Elon Musk However, one of Musk's first moves as DOGE chief has been to dismantle USAID, convincing the Trump administration that the agency is a waste of federal spending and not fit for purpose. This raises a potential conflict of interest, as Musk's company was under investigation by USAID shortly before he began calling for the shutdown. Starlink's activity in Eastern Europe has been criticized, with many Russian operatives claiming to have access to Starlink despite Musk's assurances that only Ukraine was using the service. Additionally, in September last year, Ukrainian forces downed a Russian drone that had a Starlink terminal integrated with its systems, raising questions as to how secure Starlink's operations during the Ukraine war are. What People Are Saying President Trump told reporters on Sunday: "USAID has been run by a bunch of radical lunatics and we're getting them out and then we'll make a decision." Musk said on a livestream on Monday: "As we dug into USAID, it became apparent that what we have here is not an apple with a worm it in but that we have actually just a ball of worms. USAID is a ball of worms, there is no apple. And when there is no apple... you've just got to basically get rid of the whole thing. That is why it's got to go. It's beyond repair." What Happens Next Musk is continuing to identify ways to reduce federal spending, though Democrats are expected to mount an opposition to the USAID shutdownnonabsorbing39 minutes agoNewbie Caller6Views0likes0CommentsSyncUp 2 Watch - How water resistant?

Upgraded phones and got kids watches from T-mobile at one of their locations within a Sam's Club. They had to order all the items. Ended up receiving our two phones and two kids watches. Was able to activate our phones even though there wasn't any instructions or QR codes provided. What is proving difficult is setting up the kids watches. Trying to follow the prompts on the watch, it wants us to open the tlife app. Problem is with a business account, the tlife app always prompts us to login to the business website, where I see no option to activate the watches. I've been on call with a rep for 40 minutes and they couldn't find a solution. Apparently I didn't have a tmobile ID even though I could log into the business account. Tried creating a tmobile ID with a different email on their advice and now the tlife app won't recognize my phone number. Been away from tmobile for 2 years and decided to come back and the app and 'business' accounts are absolutely horrible. Any luck on activating SyncUp watches with a business account or am I going to have to find the nearest tmobile store?kcjake18 hours agoVisitor13Views0likes0CommentsHow T-Mobile Calculates Monthly EIP Costs
Greetings. I am not (yet) a T-Mobile customer. I have a question about purchasing a new phone from T-Mobile. In the first attachment, I show that T-Mobile is offering a $1,000 promotion for my trade-in - the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra 5G in good condition - if I purchase a new Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra on an EIP. In the second attachment, I show that the full retail price of the S25 Ultra with 256GB of storage $1,299.99. Thus, if I apply my $1,000 promotion, I should pay $299.99 for this phone after all is said and done. The second attachment also shows that my monthly payment for the 24-month EIP will be $20.83. But $20.83 x 24 months = $499.92, not $299.99! It's a little misleading, however, because T-Mobile actually doesn't apply the $1,000 promotion evenly over the 24 months of the EIP. According to T-Mobile's website, I'll get a one-time bill credit of $320, and the $680 balance of the promotion with be divided evenly among the 24 months of the EIP. Let's see the arithmetic in that case: $1,299.99 - 320.00 = $979.99 - 680 = $299.99 / 24 months = $12.50 per month. This is less than the $20.83 per month that T-Mobile advertises! So my question is: How does T-Mobile calculate a monthly payment of $20.83?? This question has stumped three different T-Mobile customer service reps, but then I shouldn't expect them to know anything about the calculation of monthly costs, since their purpose is to sell and that is how they are trained. Can anyone explain how the $20.83 per month is calculated?magenta257821818 hours agoRoaming Rookie19Views0likes0Comments3 Month Free Trial
