How do I get a First Responder for Business plan?

Visit a T-Mobile retail store or call 1-877-590-4728. Existing customers can just call 611 from your mobile device. You'll be asked to validate your eligible first responder status after you complete your activation.

Who qualifies as first responder?

State and local first responders who are active, pensioned retirees, or volunteers; and parents, children or spouses of first responders killed in the line of duty. 

  • Firefighters, Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT), and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) 
  • Law enforcement including State Troopers, Sheriffs, Sheriff's Deputies, and Local Police 
  • Business customers are eligible up to 12 lines; however, government accounts are not eligible.  If you are looking for a family plan, you may qualify for the First Responder (non-business) plan and can learn more about that plan here

Unfortunately, federal employees are not eligible at this time.

Will I automatically be enrolled if I have eligible first-responder status?

No, to activate a First Responder plan you’ll need to visit a T-Mobile retail store or call 1-877-590-4728, change your rate plan to Magenta First Responder for Business or Magenta Plus First Responder for Business, and verify your eligible first responder status at 
https://www.t-mobile.com/FirstResponder within 45 days.

How do I verify my eligible first responder status?

After activating or switching to Magenta First Responder for Business or Magenta Plus First Responder for Business you'll need to verify your first responder status. Ensure that the first responder, pensioned retiree, or parent, child or spouse of a first responder killed in the line of duty, is designated as the primary account holder. Visit a T-Mobile retail store and one of our experts will walk you through the process. If you're making the change over the phone and need to verify your status, go to https://www.t-mobile.com/FirstResponder

  • You will have 45 days from the moment you activate your plan to verify your eligibility or your plan will become Magenta for Business or Magenta Plus for Business with no first responder discount, which will result in a price increase of up to $20/line per month.
  • In some cases, you will be asked to provide additional details or documentation to verify your eligible first responder status.

Why does the first responder need to be the primary account holder?

To verify that the first responder is on the account, they must be the primary account holder. Visit a T-Mobile retail store or call 1-877-590-4728 for assistance.

Do I need to submit documentation to verify my first responder status?

In some cases, you may be asked to provide additional details to verify your eligibility. If further information is required, you will be notified, and may need to upload documents confirming your first responder status to complete your verification.

What documents can I submit for first responder status verification?

The following documentation is likely to be sufficient to verify eligibility: (1) employee or volunteer ID card, (2) paystub less than 60 days old, (3) signed affidavit issued from first responder agency, or (4) Pension statement. 

What happens if I don't verify my eligible first responder status within 45 days?

Your plan will become Magenta for Business or Magenta Plus for Business with no first responder discount, and your bill will be adjusted to reflect the cost difference, which can be an additional cost of up to $20/line per month.

What happens if my first responder status changes?

In order to remain on the Magenta First Responder for Business plan, the primary account holder must re-verify their first responder status when requested. We’ll ask for re-verification annually.  

May I still take advantage of Break Free?

Yes, if you are switching to T-Mobile you may be eligible to be reimbursed for what you owe to your old carrier, up to $650 for up to five lines and $100 for additional lines via bill credits.

Do I ever need to re-verify my first responder status?

Yes, for eligible first responders, other than pensioned retirees, we’ll ask for re-verification annually.
