What phone conditions are acceptable for trade-in?
A device in good working condition must power on to the home screen and remain on without connection to a charger; allowing it to be used as it was designed by the manufacturer.
To be considered acceptable, the screen must be free of any cracks. The display must also be readable and not distorted or pixilated. Scratches and scuffs are considered a normal part of use and are acceptable.
Without liquid damage. If your device has been submerged in liquid (for example, a swimming pool, the ocean, a toilet, bathtub or washing machine) it may have liquid damage. To check for liquid damage, locate the Liquid Damage Indicator (LDI) to see if it's been tripped. The LDI is a white, pink or red dot or square typically located in the SIM tray or charging port. An acceptable LDI is generally white. If your LDI sticker is pink or red, your device shows evidence of liquid damage. iPhone X and above do not have a visible LDI. If you cannot identify your LDI on an iPhone X or above, please confirm device has not been exposed to liquid. More info about device condition and LDI.
Before returning your device, you must disable all security features such as Find My iPhone®. The simplest way to disable these features is to perform a factory master reset from the settings menu. Please note: Performing a factory reset will erase all content, so verify backups have completed prior to taking this step.
