FAQs

top How do phone payments work?
EIP (Equipment Installment Plan) pricing allows qualifying customers to get a new phone with an initial down payment and make monthly payments on the phone for 24 months with no interest charges.

Device pricing for well-qualified customers. Ex: $99 down payment + $20 x 24/mo. If you cancel wireless service, remaining balance on phone becomes due. Total $579, 0% APR O.A.C.

top Why would I be charged up to $550 for a phone at T-Mobile?
Just like all other wireless carriers, T-Mobile has to charge enough to cover the cost of the phone. The difference is that, with Value Plans, T-Mobile separates the cost of the phone from the cost of the service. That means T-Mobile Value Plan customers finish paying for their phone as soon the actual cost is paid off—and their monthly bill automatically drops.
top How do other carriers charge for phones?
Other carriers recover the cost of the phone with higher recurring monthly rate plan charges. Their customers continue to pay higher monthly rates even after the phone is paid off. Only T-Mobile offers a plan that automatically lowers the cost of the monthly bill when the phone is paid off.
top Why do I need to enter my ZIP Code to purchase?
To show you the plans available in your area, we first need to know where you are located. Some locations have special plans, restrictions or offers available. For more information on the T-Mobile coverage area, see our Coverage map.
top What is high speed data?
High-speed data allows Internet access at a high data rate or speed. 4G networks currently transmit mobile data the fastest, providing a smooth Internet connection for heavy data activities such as streaming media, watching video and online gaming. In some areas the activities you do may be transmitted on 3G, GPRS, or EDGE networks. In these cases the data rate is usually slower and may reduce the quality of some of your heavy data activities. A capable device and qualifying rate plan are required for 4G and 3G speeds.
