To start paying with your phone, just follow these simple steps:

  1. Make sure your phone is compatible with Softcard: The Softcard app can be installed on select T-Mobile Android™ smartphones. Check the FAQ to see if your existing phone is compatible or shop smartphones that are compatible with Softcard.
  2. Install a T-Mobile Advanced SIM card: Available from any T-Mobile retail store or online at

It's the easy way to pay

Making a payment with Softcard is simple. Just open Softcard, enter your pin, and select the card you want to use. Then, hold your phone against the contactless payment terminal. That’s it! Plus, you’ll continue to receive the same credit card rewards and protections that you enjoy today.

Use Softcard at participating merchants

You can pay with Softcard at more than 200,000 local and national merchant locations—anywhere contactless payments are accepted. Just look for the contactless payment symbol. You can also find offers from nearby merchants and add participating loyalty cards to your Softcard app.

Safer than your existing wallet

For your protection, the Softcard app is PIN-protected. Additionally, any payment card you add to Softcard  maintains the fraud and lost or stolen safeguards provided by the card issuer. If your phone is lost or stolen, you can quickly lock your Softcard Account  online or by calling T-Mobile.

The Softcard app is available for download onto your phone at Google Play. You will need a compatible Softcard compatible smartphone with a data plan and a T-Mobile Advanced SIM card.

The Softcard app can be installed on any T-Mobile Android™ device that is compatible with Softcard.  Here’s the current list, and new phones are added all the time:

SIMs compatible with Softcard are labeled as T-Mobile Advanced SIM cards. If you purchase a new phone, it may already have a T-Mobile Advanced SIM card. To get a T-Mobile Advanced SIM card, visit your local T-Mobile retail location or go to

Step 1: Enable Near Field Communication (NFC) on your Android device under Settings. Select More and then select NFC. For other devices, you can enable NFC by using the settings options on your device.

Step 2: Download the FREE* Softcard app by searching for Softcard on Google Play.

Step 3: Launch the app from your device. Follow the simple steps presented on your screen to set up your wallet account.

To add participating payment cards to Softcard, tap the Add Payment Card option in the Payment Card Carousel and select one of the card options available.
