Samsung t139 - No Annual Contract
Very bad for texting!
For 5 years I enjoyed my Nokia flip-phone. When it went away from t-mobile pay as you go, I opted to stay with t-mobile because for the price it is the best deal if you have a land-line and a work phone for stuff. So I saw this phone and it seemed to have similar features but I was mistaken. So here's some advice if you have this phone:
-If you're used to a b c mode for texting, beware! You will probably send gobbledygook messages for a while until you get used to it. The t9 interpretations of my texts weren't even real words!
-You have to switch from t9 to a b c for each and every text. Cumbersome.
-It is WAY too easy to send a text to all contacts when you're rapid-fire texting a personal conversation. Send to all contacts is at the top of the list and if you slip up you send it to all. This is especially troublesome if you have forgotten to switch to a b c mode. For safety I ended up deleting all contacts from my phone and writing all the information in a traditional address book.
-Forget about the to-do list and keep using pen and paper. You'll get used to it again after a bit.
-The camera is ghastly.
-Good for basic phone calls
I tolerated this phone for a couple of years until it got water inside of it and died. Now I am trying something else.

I have bought this two years ago and love it. I like the idea to have the pay as you go feature with this phone. I thought about getting a smart phone and later on realized why do I want to spend $50.00 plus dollars a month to have all the bells and whistles. I don't live on my phone. I just need a device to make phone calls. Today all you here about is these advanced smart phones and personaly if you are at home why do need to surf the net on your phone or call some one when your at your house makes no sense to me. Let alone your yearly cost to have those so called bells and whistles.

It's not a smart phone but it has great battery life, costs far less than a smart phone, and has an ok menu layout.
I've been using this phone for about a year now and still get about 3 days of run time on one charge....assuming I don't talk for hours on end...
Camera is poor, as with any cheap phone and most people hate texting on a numeric keyboard like this phone....lastly, the games and internet are sub par. I use my iPod Touch far more for those type things.
Overall, I highly recommend this phone, great for the price!

Good basic phone. I like it better than the slide out it replaced. The ringer is not as loud as other phones I've had, but it's not a deal-breaker.
