Rated 5 out of 5 6 Months Later... basically, i've had this phone since the first day it was available. I love this phone and i am at the point that i can get my free upgrade through JUMP! but i dont want to because i believe that i have the best phone out there. I've seen reviews nitpicking things. I go the the pool.. i keep my phone in my pocket while i swim. You dont want to have to get out of the pool to get your camera and miss the moment! Great connectivity as well. i use the tethering both USB and Wi-Fi with my laptop daily and never have any issues. simply touch the hotspot ON button in the notifications bar and you have internet anywhere you are. the camera quality is amazing and my friends are always asking me to use phones camera instead of their camera...not their camera phone, but a dedicated camera! the only thing i could possibly complain about is lack of cases and accessories. im just saying...we could use some aftermarket support! oh..and the older model Z1 has cases that will fit and z1s, but the charging port is covered as the z1 had a different location. over all though i would recommend this phone to anyone who wants something solid and stable. i've never had it freeze, stall or any other type of programming/software issues. Rated 1 out of 5 hardware flaws I hate this phone so much. On white paper, this phone should be the best thing on the planet. Problem is, there is a major hardware problem that causes phone to lock up. The radio antennas are weak at best. The wife fails constantly. Between me and my daughter. I have replaced 4 of them with everyone of them having same symptoms. Doing research online has shown me it's a hardware design flaw as reported on the xda developer's site. July 25, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 Great phone, waterproof tested photos! I love the this phone. Its got a great look, its waterproof, the battery holds good depending on what your doing. Browsing the web is good but i have noticed that the video files arent all compatible with the xperia when my galaxy s2 up to that point was...hmm. Music on sony walkman app is great and offers a cleaner better way to upload and file and listen to your favorite music. The kitkat upgrade i know would definitely help the phone. The camera is AWESOME. Some of the best photos ive taken so far have been breathtaking. The features are numerous and takes getting used to but osupremely well worth it for at least 2 more years as tech gets better. A reminder please, dont stick your phones in your back pockets. Thats why the glass breaks. July 24, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 Love, love, love this phone! Great overall phone. Awesome camera, beautiful screen, fast processor. Xperia keyboard didn't have an underscore key, but I downloaded a keyboard app from the playstore and voila_____ I'm back in business!! July 23, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Screen Will BREAK in your POCKET! I had this phone for 1 1/2 months, the first week i noticed a scratch straight down the middle after taking it out of my slacks pocket( not JEANS), learned to deal with it and didn't file a claim, 3 weeks later pulled the phone out of my pocket while walking and entire screen looked like a spider web! July 23, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Overall Function Isn't That Great. The phone itself is very nice. I've always been a samsung person, and I thought I'd give Sony a try. LOVE the camera! But the battery is horrible, waterproof for nothing, calls are constantly breaking up and scratchy.. Everywhere I go. It's always freezing up. I have all sorts of clean up apps and security on it and I know it's just the phone. Honestly wish I would have waited for the S5 to come out before purchasing it. July 20, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Not satisfied My experience with this phone has not been a pleasant one. After only the first month the screen cracked just from being in my pocket. Once this happened the touch screen would not work making the phone unusable and I was forced to have it replaced using the insurance which is not cheap. Three weeks after it was replaced my dog knocked a water bottle over onto the phone shorting it out. Again I had to have it replaced. Luckily T Mobile worked with me on the insurance cost since it is advertised as water proof. Two months later it is broken again. There aren't a lot of cases offered for this phone so the one I had didn't have an opening for the charging location which is on the side near the top. Not sure why it is there when most phones are on the bottom. I had to remove the case to charge it. While it was charging I knocked it off the kitchen counter (3' drop maybe) onto the floor cracking the screen, Now it isn't usable. Other issues I have found with this phone are poor audio quality even when hooked to headphones. I would have expected Sony to be leading in that department. The keys for the keyboard are either to small or to bunched together for my fingers, I am constantly having to fix errors or I turn on the voice to text while trying to push the period key. The wifi calling can be buggy at times when the phones tries to make a call using the wifi and I am not in range of a wifi. I am not satisfied with it and I am going to change phones. I cant afford for it to break a fourth time. July 20, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great phone! I have had this phone for long enough now that I feel I can write a review. Aside from it still not having the newest version of android and a few minor issues (like the intermittent touch screen issue which is a rare problem) it is a fantastic device. Awesome battery life, great camera, fast, easy to get around, waterproof, and durable. With the Kitkat update a fixed intermittent touchscreen issue this phone will be perfect. I know a lot about phones and this is one of the best. July 18, 2014

Yes. You once your phone is paid off, it’s paid off. From that point on you will only pay be billed for the T-Mobile rate plan, and services, or features you’ve chosen.

When your new phone arrives simply follow the manufacturer’s set-up procedure and start using it. If you purchased a new T-Mobile SIM card to use in your own device, you will need to insert the new card and then you are good to go.

You can upgrade your phone at any time. If you have an Equipment Installment Plan (EIP) you’ll need to pay that off first, then you’re free to select a new phone. It’s as easy as that. If you cancel wireless service, remaining balance on phone becomes due.

To find out if you’re eligible for a rebate or a promotion all you need to do is answer a few simple questions.

    Get started

Other carriers recover the cost of the phone with higher recurring monthly rate plan charges. Their customers continue to pay higher monthly rates even after the phone is paid off. Only T-Mobile offers a plan that automatically lowers the cost of the monthly bill when the phone is paid off.

We offer free, overnight shipping on certain new phones and devices. Otherwise, we will send your purchase using standard 2-4 business days shipping. Look for special promotions where all phones and devices include free, overnight shipping.

No. When you group phones into a family plan when purchasing on, you must either pay for all of them up front, or over time.

No. If you choose to pay over time, your payments will be interest-free.

You must purchase insurance within the first 14 days of buying a new device. To learn more about Premium Handset Protection Insurance or to learn about our other bundled features simply follow the link.

If you cancel your service, you still need to pay off the remaining balance of the device.

Refurbished phones offered by T-Mobile have been inspected and tested to ensure they’re in good working order, and they all come with a limited 90-day warranty. They also come with the same return policy as our new devices: 20 days from the date of your order.

Unlike other carriers that give you a discounted rate on the phone up front and then bury the costs in your monthly bill, we charge you the full retail price. In order to make payments more manageable, qualifying new and current customers can take advantage of our Equipment Installment Plan (EIP).

    Here's how phone payments work:

EIP (Equipment Installment Plan) pricing allows qualifying customers to get a new phone with an initial down payment and make monthly payments on the phone for 20 months with no interest charges. For example, if you purchased a new phone for $550 and put $150 down, you pay $20/month for 20 months, plus the low monthly cost of your Value Plan. Value Plan pricing is only available at T-Mobile.

The following restrictions apply to all EIPs:

    • Non-Value plans, T‐Mobile Monthly4G prepaid plans and certain business accounts are not eligible for EIPs.
    • Customers in Washington, DC and Puerto Rico are not eligible for EIPs.
    • The minimum required purchase for an EIP is $19.99.
    • Due to state regulations, Idaho, Kansas, Maine, West Virginia and Wyoming do not allow purchases on a 24‐month EIP.
    • If you leave T-Mobile you’re still obligated to pay off the remaining balance of the device.

Learn more about our Equipment Installment Plan

Depending on which rate plan you choose, you may also be charged an add a line fee; see rate plan for details. Taxes and shipping will also be applied to your order total.

Whether you choose to pay for your device up front today, or pay over time, you can upgrade your device at any time. If your current device has not yet been paid off, you will need to continue to make payments on the existing balance. For the well-qualified buyer, pay over time pricing will spread interest-free payments over 24 months. If you cancel wireless service, remaining balance on phone becomes due.

You need a credit check for a couple of reasons. First, if you are applying for an Equipment Installment Plan (EIP) it’s standard practice for us to check your credit. If you want to keep your existing phone number we need to determine if it’s eligible to be transferred.

Just like all other wireless carriers, T-Mobile has to charge enough to cover the cost of the phone. The difference is that T-Mobile separates the cost of the phone from the cost of the service. That means T-Mobile customers finish paying for their phone as soon the actual cost is paid off—and their monthly bill automatically drops.
