Rated 5 out of 5 Best phone I have ever owned or used. What's truly to complain about? Big screen for viewing the incredible pictures you just took:) April 22, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 Self-reboot, unclear speaking voice, &touchscreen I exchanged this phone twice in Tmobile store, and all 3 of them have some issue respectively. I am a SONY fan for a very long time, I literally have everything made by them: laptop, various game consoles (PS2, PS3, PSP, PS VITA), cameras, headphones, and so on. So I expect nothing less from their phones. I was about to go to Florida for spring break, and I heard this phone is water and dust proof! I cannot pass something like that! So I bought the first one and the nightmare began. The first one reboots itself randomly even when it's in my pocket. I was taking a class and this thing rebooted with the Tmobile theme sound! While I clearly had put it in vibration! Then when I made a phone call to my mom, she said my voice sounded funny as someone is choking me! So I had to exchange. The second one worked as a charm with everything but the touchscreen. When I type with 2 hands, random signs, as @, #, -, will show up. This never happened with any of my previous smartphones (and I thought Samsung makes sh*tty phones!). And you simply cant live with a phone that cant type, so I exchanged another one. The third one is the same issue, touchscreen. I showed this issue to the staff right there in the store when I'm doing the exchange. And it played music on its own while I was showing them the touchscreen malfunction!!! So they had to refund me and that was the end of it. I hope SONY could do a better job with their Z2. But I highly doubt I will preorder it without testing it on hand first since the previous experience. But don't take me wrong, this phone's features are amazing. The walkman app produces the best music ever on all the phones. The water and dust proof features are very reliable. The pictures are clear and vibrant, and the camera is absolutely the best camera u can find. Basically, these 3 phones I have tried are great with everything else except calling and texting (which are the two basic functions a phone should serve???). April 21, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good, but you cannot root this phone. After having this phone for a few months, I've grown to appreciate some things on it, and curse a few others, so here goes: The Good: Screen resolution is good, processing power is great, the camera is amazing, and the overall Sony GUI is quite close to stock android if you're into that sort of thing. The GPS also seems to work much better than its Samsung counterparts. The bad: I wouldn't say the battery life is bad, it's just "average". Not any worse than a Samsung Galaxy S3 or S4, but not any better either. YOU CAN NOT ROOT THIS DEVICE. T-Mobile specifically had the bootloader locked down by Sony. Any attempt to root it with a standard Z1 root method will brick your phone. Also, still waiting for a Kitkat update, but no such luck. Also, make sure you close the USB port before popping this phone into your pocket, or you'll be easily tearing the port cover right off (it's a pain to put back in). All in all: It IS a rather good phone, my primary disappointment comes from the fact that the bootloader is locked. April 18, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by great battery, this phone has everything you would want, but sometimes I don't even get my text messages till 30 mins later. I don't know if that is just tmoible or the phone, but im fed up. April 16, 2014

Yes. You once your phone is paid off, it’s paid off. From that point on you will only pay be billed for the T-Mobile rate plan, and services, or features you’ve chosen.

When your new phone arrives simply follow the manufacturer’s set-up procedure and start using it. If you purchased a new T-Mobile SIM card to use in your own device, you will need to insert the new card and then you are good to go.

You can upgrade your phone at any time. If you have an Equipment Installment Plan (EIP) you’ll need to pay that off first, then you’re free to select a new phone. It’s as easy as that. If you cancel wireless service, remaining balance on phone becomes due.

To find out if you’re eligible for a rebate or a promotion all you need to do is answer a few simple questions.

Other carriers recover the cost of the phone with higher recurring monthly rate plan charges. Their customers continue to pay higher monthly rates even after the phone is paid off. Only T-Mobile offers a plan that automatically lowers the cost of the monthly bill when the phone is paid off.

We offer free, overnight shipping on certain new phones and devices. Otherwise, we will send your purchase using standard 2-4 business days shipping. Look for special promotions where all phones and devices include free, overnight shipping.

No. When you group phones into a family plan when purchasing on T-Mobile.com, you must either pay for all of them up front, or over time.

No. If you choose to pay over time, your payments will be interest-free.

You must purchase insurance within the first 14 days of buying a new device. To learn more about Premium Handset Protection Insurance or to learn about our other bundled features simply follow the link.

If you cancel your service, you still need to pay off the remaining balance of the device.

Refurbished phones offered by T-Mobile have been inspected and tested to ensure they’re in good working order, and they all come with a limited 90-day warranty. They also come with the same return policy as our new devices: 20 days from the date of your order; 30 days in California.

Unlike other carriers that give you a discounted rate on the phone up front and then bury the costs in your monthly bill, we charge you the full retail price. In order to make payments more manageable, qualifying new and current customers can take advantage of our Equipment Installment Plan (EIP).

    Here's how phone payments work:

EIP (Equipment Installment Plan) pricing allows qualifying customers to get a new phone with an initial down payment and make monthly payments on the phone for 20 months with no interest charges. For example, if you purchased a new phone for $550 and put $150 down, you pay $20/month for 20 months, plus the low monthly cost of your Value Plan. Value Plan pricing is only available at T-Mobile.

The following restrictions apply to all EIPs:

    • Non-Value plans, T‐Mobile Monthly4G prepaid plans and certain business accounts are not eligible for EIPs.
    • Customers in Washington, DC and Puerto Rico are not eligible for EIPs.
    • The minimum required purchase for an EIP is $19.99.
    • Due to state regulations, Idaho, Kansas, Maine, West Virginia and Wyoming do not allow purchases on a 24‐month EIP.
    • If you leave T-Mobile you’re still obligated to pay off the remaining balance of the device.

Learn more about our Equipment Installment Plan

Depending on which rate plan you choose, you may also be charged an add a line fee; see rate plan for details. Taxes and shipping will also be applied to your order total.

Whether you choose to pay for your device up front today, or pay over time, you can upgrade your device at any time. If your current device has not yet been paid off, you will need to continue to make payments on the existing balance. For the well-qualified buyer, pay over time pricing will spread interest-free payments over 24 months. If you cancel wireless service, remaining balance on phone becomes due.

You need a credit check for a couple of reasons. First, if you are applying for an Equipment Installment Plan (EIP) it’s standard practice for us to check your credit. If you want to keep your existing phone number we need to determine if it’s eligible to be transferred.

Just like all other wireless carriers, T-Mobile has to charge enough to cover the cost of the phone. The difference is that T-Mobile separates the cost of the phone from the cost of the service. That means T-Mobile customers finish paying for their phone as soon the actual cost is paid off—and their monthly bill automatically drops.
