Rated 4 out of 5 by overall good phone i just recently purchased this and much to my surprise this is a decent phone.it does everything i really need without being a overpriced high end device.i had a gs3 for 2 yrs. and i was just about to buy a gs5 until i spent a little time researching this phone and i'm glad i did.i'm not sure on how the battery life is yet but regardless it was a good choice. Rated 5 out of 5 I love this Phone! By tomorrow I will officially have had this phone for two weeks and I think it is one of the smartest purchases I made. Prior to this, I had a Mytouch and thought I would miss the flexibility of having both a keyboard and touch screen but the features and quality of the phone has made up for it. The battery life is amazing and can last a full day and+ despite checking emails, streaming videos or having numerous conversations. I like that if I am filling out an application, the phone automatically zooms areas that appear small to fill. I like that it shows the number count of windows that are opened. Youtube videos are extremely clear, internet searches come up promptly. Even though the phone was advertised to me as a simple phone, there is alot more features to the phone that I am learning that is not included in the manual. I am impressed that the cost was very inexpensive for a well recognized brand that is elegant, which I didn't think would be possible. The camera is pretty good as well. September 18, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 The camera is terrible I went from a Galaxy to the Avant. I feel like I went from driving a Cadillac to driving a Hyundai. My biggest complaint is the camera. This has got to be the single worst smartphone camera on the market. Pictures are dark and grainy no matter what the lighting. Disappointed. September 18, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Amazing Phone The phone is very easy to use and it has great features. The camera is okay, but features like ultra power saving mode are a huge help. You can be on your phone for hours before having to charge it. It is very easy to use and is one of the best smart phones that isnt too expensive September 14, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Mixed feelings about this phone... Want so badly to love it, but just can't. I had one of the first windows phones, loved the call clarity, reminders, calendar, but the battery stopped working and hardly any apps worked. The avant has twice as much memory to start with and expandable memory, tons more colors, apps actually work, battery so far is good. Speaker phone is weak and crackly. Try to put it up to my ear, and the key pad gets pressed numerous times, very annoying. the calendar is kind of hidden, so I keep forgetting to check my calendar for appointments. I think the reminders pop up, but they don't stay on the screen. On my windows phone, they stayed on the screen until I hit the ok button. I agree with another reviewer, the login in time for entering your PIN is annoyingly short. I can't get the visual voicemail to work. On the notifications page, it is really easy to delete an item(deleted several by accident), once deleted, I have yet to figure out where they go. Haven't done it yet, but there is a printer app. My husband likes the mobile hotspot. Another issue I had is when initially signing in to all the google stuff, there were a lot of accepting or not accepting bubbles, but it was hard to tell what you are giving them permission for. Is it truly necessary? or just for games, etc?? Overall better than my Lumia 710. But, I really need a better phone and reminders for the calendar. If the phone quality worked better, I would have recommended this phone. September 12, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Weakly built phone I only had this phone for a little over a week. While phone seems to work very well for me I really had not gotten much of a chance to really work the phone. In fact I had hardly looked into most features of the phone. My issue and why in no way would I recommend this phone to anyone happened this morning and baffles me. The phone was sitting on a table with the screen facing up when an object weighing just over 5 grams, about the same as a nickel fell onto it SHATTERING the screen!!! There is no way in any world would I think such weight should ever put a nick in the glass of a phone let alone shatter it. So now I am out the money I just paid for this obviously flawed phone. Do not buy it unless you live in a padded room. September 11, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Samsung galaxy avant my first smart phone and cold not be more pleased with it. All the features that i want and more great phone!! September 11, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by amazing features I got this phone over 2 weeks ago , I love most things about it . but I hate and I mean hate the front camera . when taking pictures the pics come out in bad quality and are so very dark , no matter how bright my surroundings. This really upsets me. Another problem is the battery life. It drains battery even when I'm not using it and no applications are on. I charge it to 90 percent and don't touch for an hour and its down to 80 . its still brand new. I just don't understand September 11, 2014

Yes. You once your phone is paid off, it’s paid off. From that point on you will only pay be billed for the T-Mobile rate plan, and services, or features you’ve chosen.

When your new phone arrives simply follow the manufacturer’s set-up procedure and start using it. If you purchased a new T-Mobile SIM card to use in your own device, you will need to insert the new card and then you are good to go.

You can upgrade your phone at any time. If you have an Equipment Installment Plan (EIP) you’ll need to pay that off first, then you’re free to select a new phone. It’s as easy as that. If you cancel wireless service, remaining balance on phone becomes due.

To find out if you’re eligible for a rebate or a promotion all you need to do is answer a few simple questions.

    Get started

Other carriers recover the cost of the phone with higher recurring monthly rate plan charges. Their customers continue to pay higher monthly rates even after the phone is paid off. Only T-Mobile offers a plan that automatically lowers the cost of the monthly bill when the phone is paid off.

We offer free, overnight shipping on certain new phones and devices. Otherwise, we will send your purchase using standard 2-4 business days shipping. Look for special promotions where all phones and devices include free, overnight shipping.

No. When you group phones into a family plan when purchasing on T-Mobile.com, you must either pay for all of them up front, or over time.

No. If you choose to pay over time, your payments will be interest-free.

You must purchase insurance within the first 14 days of buying a new device. To learn more about Premium Handset Protection Insurance or to learn about our other bundled features simply follow the link.

Learn more about Premium Handset Protection

If you cancel your service, you still need to pay off the remaining balance of the device.

Refurbished phones offered by T-Mobile have been inspected and tested to ensure they’re in good working order, and they all come with a limited 90-day warranty. They also come with the same return policy as our new devices: 20 days from the date of your order.

Unlike other carriers that give you a discounted rate on the phone up front and then bury the costs in your monthly bill, we charge you the full retail price. In order to make payments more manageable, qualifying new and current customers can take advantage of our Equipment Installment Plan (EIP).

    Here's how phone payments work:

EIP (Equipment Installment Plan) pricing allows qualifying customers to get a new phone with an initial down payment and make monthly payments on the phone for 20 months with no interest charges. For example, if you purchased a new phone for $550 and put $150 down, you pay $20/month for 20 months, plus the low monthly cost of your Value Plan. Value Plan pricing is only available at T-Mobile.

The following restrictions apply to all EIPs:

    • Non-Value plans, T‐Mobile Monthly4G prepaid plans and certain business accounts are not eligible for EIPs.
    • Customers in Washington, DC and Puerto Rico are not eligible for EIPs.
    • The minimum required purchase for an EIP is $19.99.
    • Due to state regulations, Idaho, Kansas, Maine, West Virginia and Wyoming do not allow purchases on a 24‐month EIP.
    • If you leave T-Mobile you’re still obligated to pay off the remaining balance of the device.

Learn more about our Equipment Installment Plan

Depending on which rate plan you choose, you may also be charged an add a line fee; see rate plan for details. Taxes and shipping will also be applied to your order total.

Whether you choose to pay for your device up front today, or pay over time, you can upgrade your device at any time. If your current device has not yet been paid off, you will need to continue to make payments on the existing balance. For the well-qualified buyer, pay over time pricing will spread interest-free payments over 24 months. If you cancel wireless service, remaining balance on phone becomes due.

You need a credit check for a couple of reasons. First, if you are applying for an Equipment Installment Plan (EIP) it’s standard practice for us to check your credit. If you want to keep your existing phone number we need to determine if it’s eligible to be transferred.

Just like all other wireless carriers, T-Mobile has to charge enough to cover the cost of the phone. The difference is that T-Mobile separates the cost of the phone from the cost of the service. That means T-Mobile customers finish paying for their phone as soon the actual cost is paid off—and their monthly bill automatically drops.
