Rated 2 out of 5 LOVE Microsoft, just not the phone I bought this phone to replace my Sony Xperia Z1. Starting out was great. I personally love Microsoft 8.1, I have it on my laptop and it is the best thing out right now. Cortona is awesome, she's hilarious, I'll really miss that part of the phone. The reason I returned the phone was because some of the apps I use on a daily bases is not supported by Microsoft OS. If I would have known that, I wouldn't have gotten it. If it did support my most important apps, I would have for sure kept the phone and been completely happy with it. September 19, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Looks good on paper, poor execution My first Windows Phone was the HTC 8x. One evening I was watching a thunderstorm from the window with my son and I tried to check my phone. The phone began restarting every 5-7 seconds until it ran out of battery. I took it to my local T-Mobile store, it was a lost cause, so I bought the Lumia 635 because I like the Windows OS very much (even if there aren't as many apps) As you read this review keep in mind I have only had the Nokia Lumia 635 for a little over two weeks..... I will start with the good. Cortana is kind of fun, voice recognition is some of the best I've used, and it makes calling while driving safer. The camera takes much higher quality pictures than my 8x did. The jump to 4GLTE is nice as well. Now for the bad stuff....... Apps crash multiple times a day. I never really noticed apps crashing on my 8x. And IF they load on the 635, sometimes they don't connect (happens with multiple apps on network and wifi) to the app server or they just don't load properly. We will use theChive app as an example since that is one I frequently use. I click on the app to check out the latest DAR and the pictures won't load. I exit and reenter the app, and it crashes. Annoying. Oh, and having to restart your phone 3 or more times a day just to get it to work properly.....yeah, that's pretty fun too. Text messaging is hit and miss. Sometimes I don't receive texts from my wife until hours later. Literally. She texted me three times while I was on lunch at work and I made it home 5 hours later before the texts were received. At other times I will get the same text 3, 4, 5 times. And sometimes it doesn't send texts out, which worries me because some pertaining to my job are quite important. At the end of the day I have to restart my phone just to check if there were any texts or calls that might not have made it to my phone. Call quality is hit or miss as well. If it is on Wi-Fi calling, you can pretty much forget about the person on the other line understanding a word. Even on T-Mobile's network the call quality can be pretty shoddy. And then all of a sudden the next call will be crystal clear like you were in the same room as them. The on-screen back/home/search buttons. Really, Nokia??? Use some of that screen space for buttons that should be placed on that empty black space just below the screen? It's annoying when texting because my, admittedly clumsy, thumbs hit those on-screen buttons frequently. Lack of decent hardware. There is no flash. No forward facing camera. No camera button. And the aforementioned lack of dedicated touch buttons. This phone is at a great price point for what they tried to achieve. Nokia just didn't deliver a solid product. I usually find the cons of a phone a few months into ownership, but with the Lumia 635 I was noticing them on Day 1. If you are prone to anger and throwing things, buy a different phone. If you enjoy having your patience tested and you don't NEED a reliable phone, buy this phone. September 13, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Stylish, Friendly, Functional, Quality, Productive Excellent call quality, speaker audio is loud and clean. Screen is bright, sharp and attractive. Live tiles is, well, alive and not boringly static. Win Phone OS is very easy to use and get task done fast so I can get on with my life. I use this for both work and personal. I use OFFICE and it syncs my email folders, calendar, contact and task across by desktop, laptops and phone. OneNote holds my company and personal project info and that also syncs seamlessly. OneDrive syncs my photos and music, and its also available offline when I'm flying across the Pacific. When in Asia, many countries are on the TMobile free data roaming list. No more worries about $25/100M charges from my former carrier of 8 years. After my 15 hour flight to Asia, email is delivered to my Lumia before I get off the plane, the 2G data speed is much faster than I expect. No extra charge for data roaming abroad. While in range of wifi, WIFI Calling works well. I cant wait to try out the TMobile/GoGo free SMS while flying. Offline Here Maps is available in many countries. Its accurate, fast and free. Seated by the airplane window, Here Maps and GPS works, you don't need data connection. Camera quality for stills Panorama and movies is excellent. Love the manual controls when necessary. Office Lens app captures and optimize documents or whiteboard shots, real handy. WinPhone has all the apps I need: flashlight, restaurant booking, financial stuff, travel booking and airline, car service, News & Weather, PDF reader, online shopping, WorldClock. Cortana reads the inbound SMS over the car sound system, I respond by voice, all hands free. This phone has traveled to: Hong Kong, Auckland, Queenstown, Wellington NZ, Sydney, Canberra, Singapore, Seoul, Tokyo, Taipei, Beijing. Free unlimited data and solid cell coverage. Thank you Mr. Legere. This phone is a gem. Its very well design and built, and reasonably priced on a superb carried with great support. September 13, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by For the price, it can't be beat! Phone does everything I need it to do...not many bells and whistles, but for the price you definitely get a lot of bang for your buck. Battery lasts easily all day for me and overall I'm very impressed. Windows Phone 8.1 is super easy to use, looks awesome, and is great so far. Phone feels great, calls are clear, and looks pretty sharp too. I'm not a selfie taker or a professional photographer so this phone gets the job done awesomely. Would definitely recommend. Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Phone Have had this phone 1 week. Easy to use. great features. So you can't turn the camera to the front, so what. Best phone I've had September 11, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by I'm impressed I was a long time proud owner of a nexus 4 phone but I started having battery and power button issues. I needed a new phone and thought I would switch it up and give this lower end Lumia a try. After owning it for a few weeks I have to say I'm very impressed and it might just make me a long term Lumia/Windows customer. The OS is beautiful, it's super easy to set up with an outlook account, and it's amazing what it can do when you link facebook, twitter, and linked in through outlook. The thing I'm most impressed with is the call quality and download speeds, you will not be disappointed here. Downsides are the camera (but not completely terrible), lack or RAM, and slightly cheap feel but you get what you pay for. Overall I would say give it a shot, you might like it too. And if you work in an office, this is the platform to be on. September 10, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by great phone Love this phone, I was coming from the iphone 5s and this phone has a longer battery life. To me a bigger screen and Cortana is great I can use her to text call send email etc. It passed my expectations I highly recommend it. 10/10 September 9, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by the best economic smart phone in the market I have used many smart phones and the Nokia Lumia 635 is the best one yet IOS and Android don't compare when it comes to the features this phone comes with. Windows phones will take the market if they keep releasing phones like this one. September 9, 2014

Yes. You once your phone is paid off, it’s paid off. From that point on you will only pay be billed for the T-Mobile rate plan, and services, or features you’ve chosen.

When your new phone arrives simply follow the manufacturer’s set-up procedure and start using it. If you purchased a new T-Mobile SIM card to use in your own device, you will need to insert the new card and then you are good to go.

You can upgrade your phone at any time. If you have an Equipment Installment Plan (EIP) you’ll need to pay that off first, then you’re free to select a new phone. It’s as easy as that. If you cancel wireless service, remaining balance on phone becomes due.

To find out if you’re eligible for a rebate or a promotion all you need to do is answer a few simple questions.

Other carriers recover the cost of the phone with higher recurring monthly rate plan charges. Their customers continue to pay higher monthly rates even after the phone is paid off. Only T-Mobile offers a plan that automatically lowers the cost of the monthly bill when the phone is paid off.

We offer free, overnight shipping on certain new phones and devices. Otherwise, we will send your purchase using standard 2-4 business days shipping. Look for special promotions where all phones and devices include free, overnight shipping.

No. When you group phones into a family plan when purchasing on, you must either pay for all of them up front, or over time.

No. If you choose to pay over time, your payments will be interest-free.

You must purchase insurance within the first 14 days of buying a new device. To learn more about Premium Handset Protection Insurance or to learn about our other bundled features simply follow the link.

If you cancel your service, you still need to pay off the remaining balance of the device.

Refurbished phones offered by T-Mobile have been inspected and tested to ensure they’re in good working order, and they all come with a limited 90-day warranty. They also come with the same return policy as our new devices: 20 days from the date of your order.

Unlike other carriers that give you a discounted rate on the phone up front and then bury the costs in your monthly bill, we charge you the full retail price. In order to make payments more manageable, qualifying new and current customers can take advantage of our Equipment Installment Plan (EIP).

    Here's how phone payments work:

EIP (Equipment Installment Plan) pricing allows qualifying customers to get a new phone with an initial down payment and make monthly payments on the phone for 20 months with no interest charges. For example, if you purchased a new phone for $550 and put $150 down, you pay $20/month for 20 months, plus the low monthly cost of your Value Plan. Value Plan pricing is only available at T-Mobile.

The following restrictions apply to all EIPs:

    • Non-Value plans, T‐Mobile Monthly4G prepaid plans and certain business accounts are not eligible for EIPs.
    • Customers in Washington, DC and Puerto Rico are not eligible for EIPs.
    • The minimum required purchase for an EIP is $19.99.
    • Due to state regulations, Idaho, Kansas, Maine, West Virginia and Wyoming do not allow purchases on a 24‐month EIP.
    • If you leave T-Mobile you’re still obligated to pay off the remaining balance of the device.

Learn more about our Equipment Installment Plan

Depending on which rate plan you choose, you may also be charged an add a line fee; see rate plan for details. Taxes and shipping will also be applied to your order total.

Whether you choose to pay for your device up front today, or pay over time, you can upgrade your device at any time. If your current device has not yet been paid off, you will need to continue to make payments on the existing balance. For the well-qualified buyer, pay over time pricing will spread interest-free payments over 24 months. If you cancel wireless service, remaining balance on phone becomes due.

You need a credit check for a couple of reasons. First, if you are applying for an Equipment Installment Plan (EIP) it’s standard practice for us to check your credit. If you want to keep your existing phone number we need to determine if it’s eligible to be transferred.

Just like all other wireless carriers, T-Mobile has to charge enough to cover the cost of the phone. The difference is that T-Mobile separates the cost of the phone from the cost of the service. That means T-Mobile customers finish paying for their phone as soon the actual cost is paid off—and their monthly bill automatically drops.
