Rated 5 out of 5 by I still love my HTC one M8 after 6 months This phone is very easy to use and I love the BlinkFeed. T-Mobile just updated this phone to Kitkat 4.4.4 and some new features for the camera.Battery could be better. I wish the screen could be a little be bigger. Overall, this phone is fast and it doesn't have all the bloated ware like Samsung Galaxy S5. It just have the features I need. Highly recommended. October 24, 2014

Rated 5 out of 5 by Best phone I've had After owning many smart phones this one by far takes the cake! Battery life has been great, it's super fast, boom sound sounds great for phone audio, feels like it was made to last a lifetime, and the quality of the screen is great as well. I have zero regrets buying this phone and would do it again without a second thought, it does everything I would want and far more. If you got an iPhone........ I'm sorry, better choice here ;-) October 18, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Competitor for best build and quality control Intro: Myself- I'm a middle-aged (29yrs) married father of two young children that just completed his master's with an IT, military and ministry background. I'm fairly tech savvy and enjoy keeping up with tech. When it comes to phones (or any tech for that matter), I consider myself critical (a perfectionist) AKA screen/speaker/build quality snob. I do not tolerate dead/hot pixels, uneven lighting/coloring, crackling speakers (poor speaker quality), etc. Recent Phone Experience: This is my second time purchasing the HTC One M8. The experience was just as good as my first. The first one I upgraded from to the Galaxy S5 because I had Tmobile's JUMP plan...so basically I upgraded just because I could. The second reason was for the convenience of the fingerprint scanner, which the HTC One M8 does not have. I then sold the S5 because the amoled didn't produce consistent colors on gray backgrounds, texting keyboard, etc. I sold that phone and obtain a Moto X second Gen. Same deal with the screen... colors inconsistent and then it had artifacting and faint lines in the background of most images that never went away. I returned that and tried the iPhone 6 in white/silver. That was a mistake. There was shadowing along the top of the display, mild yellow and blue discoloration and battery life was so so. Beautiful phone, but I want a nearly perfect phone. Feeling defeated and spoiled with my previous HTC One M8, I decided to purchase a second one. What a relief. While it doesn't have many of the convenient features of the Moto X (my second favorite phone despite the poor screen), the snazziness and hipness of the iPhone or even the latest and great heart rate monitor and fingerprint reader of the S5, the HTC One M8 does everything else amazingly well and with a premium build/quality that tops nearly any phone in my opinion. In regards to my daily phone use, I do not play games. I mostly use my phone for video, watching short video clips (usually news/tech articles), reading, keeping up with emails for coursework (now working on masters in accounting), employment, phone calls to maintain family, personal and professional relationships, GPS-navigation, looking up and researching info/devices/items at the spur of the moment and browsing the internet. I don't use it for gaming, that's what my PC is for :-P Screen: I do not tolerate dead/hot pixels, yellow/discolored screens with uneven tones and so on. Of the many cell phones I have owned, the HTC One M8 has one of the best screens for reading black text on a white background. Many IPS panels I have experienced (to include the Nexus 5) often have warm (yellow screens), which is fine. However, the HTC One is vivid and has some of the most natural colors I've seen that actually produces white whites in images. Also, it's one of the very few phones I've experienced where colors/brightness were consistent across the screen. The screen produces clear and sharp images and the touch sensitivity is precise and responsive. Sound Quality: The two front-facing boom speakers are amazing. Nothing so far seems to be able to compete with them and the surround sound like quality. Just like the screen, there was no compromise on the speaker/sound quality. Not only are they great for media consumption, they also make for excellent call quality and speakerphone use. Might I add, the microphone is excellent at filtering out background noise when using against the head (ear) and is sensitive when using the speakerphone. One last note is that this phone can ring! The ring tone can be set high/loud on the phone and can be clearly heard across the house (my home is 2100 sq ft). Interface: HTC uses a fairly mild skin over the android interface OS. Nothing too heavy like what you find with Samsung's touch-wiz interface. The HTC One M8 is fluid and quick with no lag I've noticed with regular/daily use. Camera(s): The camera focuses quick. It is one of the best for indoor setting. I'll give the iPhone 6 credit here. The iPhone 6 is one of the best cameras of any phone. However, I do not need large images. Most of my photos are of family functions and in indoor setting. I need quick camera that produces clear images with little noise. The HTC One M8 takes excellent and quick standard sized photos in consistent light settings. If there are multiple light sources, you will need to make sure you adjust the camera accordingly so you don't have overexposed images due to the extra sensitive light sensor. There are also a lot of other neat camera features that will be interesting for most folks to figure out and use. The camera is only 4MP, but I consider it very practical as a daily shooter and keeping up with the family photo album on the computer and for print in standard picture sizes. The front camera is great overall and provides neat family selfies and clear images to the viewer when using Google voice chat (similar feature to Apple's Facetime). Battery: I make about 5-10 calls per day lasting anywhere from a couple of minutes to an hour or two. Usually I can get a comfortable two days of use out of it although I do recharge it daily. By the end of a day I usually have around 50% battery. Also, I use the GPS on a daily basis in addition to photos and texting. The phone keeps up great and I've never found myself in desperate need of a phone charger because of a low battery unless I used the GPS for several hours. Then I might be nearing a dead battery by the end of the day. Build Quality: I use my phone with a screen protector and a black Tech21 case. The combination makes for a great feeling and light-weight phone. Without the case the phone feels like an even higher quality version of the iPhone. It feels sturdy and definitely has a premium feel in the hand. This phone feels as if HTC gave it everything it had down to the quality control as these phones have a low return rate due to low turn out of poor screen with dead/hot pixels etc. Additionally: HTC has a promise to keep the android OS updated with the latest releases and to replace the screen if it is cracked within a 6 month time period...The phone also has an IR blaster that works with my Sony and Toshiba wifi/media enable televisions. This is great for when one of my remotes goes missing because my televisions do not fully function without their remotes when they grow legs and the children are around. Summary: Overall what satisfies me with this phone is it's excellent overall build quality and attention to detail. This phone is definitely the product of a company that put it's full heart/efforts into the product and didn't hold back. While it does not have a high mega-pixel camera, it takes descent images quickly and in a variety of settings. It's flexible and one of the best for my personal use. The screen is nearly flawless as well as the complimentary speakers. This phone is an overall pleasure to use and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a solid flagship phone. October 18, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Simply the best Android phone out there! Wow! I've had my One M8 for almost a month now, and what I'll say is this. It's the best Android phone that I've ever used! Hands down! I'm well versed in earlier iterations of HTC phones, and HTC sense, which I always enjoyed, as well as being very experienced with Samsung Galaxy phones and Touchwiz. As far as smoothness, I've been a fan of IOS and Windows Phone. Samsung, is the undisputed features beast, jamming feature upon feature into their phones, making them the most popular Android phone in a world that loves excess. This is not a criticism, I understand. I love the Galaxy line! Apple of course, though not as customizable, just works well. Smooth, easy, reliable. Windows phone, underrated, the app shortage is way overrated, and most would be pleasantly surprised if they would just try it out. But, I have to say that NO phone has been the joy to use like my One M8! It doesn't have the myriad of features that Samsung has, but the features that it does have are actually useful in the day to day! Very mature UI. I also understand why multiple reviewers call it the iPhone of Android. It's buttery smooth, everything is set up just right! With my other Android phones, whether Samsung Galaxys, LG G2, (another beast), as well as others, I would occasionally switch out to Windows or IOS just for some of the smoothness I was missing. With this HTC One M8 there will be no switching out for quite some time! It is the phone that I wished all my other phones could be! Plain and simple! I can't completely explain it, but it is just a joy to use. Oh, the much maligned 4 Ultra Pixel Duo-Camera is actually very appealing. Unless you blow up a lot of your mobile pictures, it's more than fine. As a matter of fact, you can do so much with the camera interface, that I've taken some of the best pictures that I've ever taken with a smartphone! If you just take the time to read and learn, you'll enjoy the photos. If you don't need a lot of features that you probably won't use, can appreciate the maturity and refinement of the Sense 6 UI, (the best in my opinion), and you love the great audio of the Boom-Sound speakers, then grab this phone immediately! I hesitated on the first HTC One M7, because of the camera reviews, and procrastinated on this One for the same reason. The result? I missed out on months of enjoyment! I implore you to learn from my mistake. Get the One! October 18, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Disappointing I always do my research when it comes to a phone I'm buying. I wanted either the HTC or Samsung S5. Well, I went into a store, and after rave reviews from a sales person that owns it, I decided on the HTC. So, here's my review: Aesthetically, the phone is exquisite. I've never dropped a phone, so I thought a screen protector would be sufficient. Besides, I didn't want to cover the most striking feature of the phone with some bulky case. I also put the phone in a padded felt pocket in my purse so it rarely comes into contact with debris or other inanimate objects found in bags. Well, that wasn't enough to keep the camera lens on the back of the phone from scratching. Bad. It isn't recessed enough into the back of the phone to prevent this. Yes, if I had a case, then perhaps my pictures wouldn't look so blurry and out of focus now. So, it has essentially negated my use of Zoe (the really cool camera function that takes cool pictures). Furthermore, those beautiful matte black letters emblazoned on the back? Yeah, those are stickers and came off once I put an Otterbox case on it. Those letters are engraved in the phone, but filled with glue and a sticker attached. It left behind a crevice for all sorts of things to collect in there. Also, it is incredibly uncomfortable to talk on. Not because of it's size, but because of the sharp edges around the speaker that dig into your ear. Again, with a case that isn't an issue. But don't attempt to use the speakerphone. Nope. It'll crackle if you turn it too high. Doesn't happen with music or videos. Just the phone. Don't even get me started on how glitchy Android runs on this phone. Nothing works when you want it to. I can click one icon, and it'll randomly open something else, and will do so several times in a row. I had such amazing hopes for this device, but only after having it several months, I'm looking forward to trading it in. HTC still has some growing pains and hasn't refined the product like Samsung or some other comparable devices. It just doesn't seem like it has the longevity others have Overall, no, I wouldn't recommend it. You may even read my review and think to yourself that if I had only put a case on it, then that'd negate the majority of my complaint. To an extent you'd be correct, but the battery life lasts me half a day and I'm not on it a lot. The apps and widgets don't work well (maybe it's the Android version and has nothing to do with the phone). I'll never know. Maybe I got a bad one, but the only really cool thing I like about it is the sound quality. It's second to none. Otherwise, sadly, the first viable opportunity I have to ditch it, I will. Rated 1 out of 5 by Really Bad Phone for Extensive Car Bluetooth Users This phone is such a waste of money, time and energy. It's Bluetooth doesn't work properly. I have been struggling with it for days. My iphone 4 used to connect with my 2013 Camry's Bluetooth audio seamlessly. But this phone is a waste. It connects and starts playing songs when my car's key is in "on" position, but as soon as i turn the ignition and start the car, it just disconnects! No matter how much I try (turning off/on the bluetooth of car/phone), it wont connect! If you are a heavy car bluetooth audio user, Beware! Dont buy this phone!! October 15, 2014

In order to make payments more manageable, qualifying new and current customers can take advantage of our Equipment Installment Plan (EIP).

    Here's how phone payments work:

EIP (Equipment Installment Plan) pricing allows qualifying customers to get a new phone with an initial down payment and make monthly payments on the phone for 20 months with no interest charges. For example, if you purchased a new phone for $550 and put $150 down, you pay $20/month for 20 months, plus the low monthly cost of your Value Plan. Value Plan pricing is only available at T-Mobile.

The following restrictions apply to all EIPs:

    • Non-Value plans, T‐Mobile Monthly4G prepaid plans and certain business accounts are not eligible for EIPs.
    • Customers in Washington, DC and Puerto Rico are not eligible for EIPs.
    • The minimum required purchase for an EIP is $19.99.
    • Due to state regulations, Idaho, Kansas, Maine, West Virginia and Wyoming do not allow purchases on a 24‐month EIP.
    • If you leave T-Mobile you’re still obligated to pay off the remaining balance of the device.

Whether you choose to pay for your device up front today, or pay over time, you can upgrade your device at any time. If your current device has not yet been paid off, you will need to continue to make payments on the existing balance. For the well-qualified buyer, pay over time pricing will spread interest-free payments over 24 months. If you cancel wireless service, remaining balance on phone becomes due.

You need a credit check for a couple of reasons. First, if you are applying for an Equipment Installment Plan (EIP) it’s standard practice for us to check your credit. If you want to keep your existing phone number we need to determine if it’s eligible to be transferred.

Just like all other wireless carriers, T-Mobile has to charge enough to cover the cost of the phone. The difference is that T-Mobile separates the cost of the phone from the cost of the service. That means T-Mobile customers finish paying for their phone as soon the actual cost is paid off—and their monthly bill automatically drops.
