If you want rocket ships and whistles, get a Galaxy 4. If you want error free unshackled performance, buy this phone. This is a phone for people who know what they are doing. The build quality, dimensions and feel, along with the latest version of Android without the bloatware that is part of most other smartphones (and the ongoing assurance of fast operating system updates by Google) make using it a pleasure. I have found that the battery life is more than acceptable if location services are kept at low accuracy, even with heavy phone and data use during the normal business day. But, if it had another ~20% of battery duration, it would be essentially perfect. September 9, 2014
    Rated 1 out of 5 by Bad Call Quality, No calling over Wi-Fi Call quality is terrible. I tried two different phones. This trumps other good or bad features. No voice over Wi-Fi was another huge let down... Some other small annoyances...FIrst attempt to simply send a text to a number failed because there was not a simple app. "Hangouts" was built for existing contacts. I was also surprised that no pre-loaded QR or Bar Code scanner was present. September 8, 2014

I had a huge article about the battery issues with this phone but T-Mobile wouldn't let me post it cause apparently there was inappropriate language or something in there, I don't know. I don't curse in my reviews but in any case, phone has horrendous battery issues and glitches that cause it to drain without you even knowing. It's insane. Returning this within a week of having it. I rather suffer the restocking fee than this phone's battery life for the next six months. Really wanted to love and enjoy stock android but I can't when I need to run to the nearest charger after only using it for about an hour or so. I'm scared to go out without my external battery or charging cable. And it doesn't help that this thing takes ages to charge. An hour and a half apparently from 70% to full, which is just crazy. It's idle time is bad too, as I left it overnight at full charge, and when I woke up after around 8 hours or so, the battery was down from 99% to 86 or so. If I lost 1-3%, ok, fine, that's normal, but to lose more than 10 when the screen is off and in idle???? No way jose. If your a poweruser by any means, don't get this phone less you want to deal with horrendous battery issues that make the iphone look like it was supported by a car battery in comparison. Just tell us the make, model and condition of your old phone and we’ll give you a quote for your trade-in value. If you like the offer we’ll send you a prepaid shipping label and you can send us your old phone along with the receipt from your new one.     When your new phone arrives simply follow the manufacturer’s set-up procedure and start using it. If you purchased a new T-Mobile SIM card to use in your own device, you will need to insert the new card and then you are good to go.

    Refurbished phones offered by T-Mobile have been inspected and tested to ensure they’re in good working order, and they all come with a limited 90-day warranty. They also come with the same return policy as our new devices: 20 days from the date of your order.

    Unlike other carriers that give you a discounted rate on the phone up front and then bury the costs in your monthly bill, we charge you the full retail price. In order to make payments more manageable, qualifying new and current customers can take advantage of our Equipment Installment Plan (EIP).

    Here's how phone payments work:

    EIP (Equipment Installment Plan) pricing allows qualifying customers to get a new phone with an initial down payment and make monthly payments on the phone for 20 months with no interest charges. For example, if you purchased a new phone for $550 and put $150 down, you pay $20/month for 20 months, plus the low monthly cost of your Value Plan. Value Plan pricing is only available at T-Mobile.

    The following restrictions apply to all EIPs:

    • Non-Value plans, T‐Mobile Monthly4G prepaid plans and certain business accounts are not eligible for EIPs.
    • Customers in Washington, DC and Puerto Rico are not eligible for EIPs.
    • The minimum required purchase for an EIP is $19.99.
    • Due to state regulations, Idaho, Kansas, Maine, West Virginia and Wyoming do not allow purchases on a 24‐month EIP.
    • If you leave T-Mobile you’re still obligated to pay off the remaining balance of the device.

    Depending on which rate plan you choose, you may also be charged an add a line fee; see rate plan for details. Taxes and shipping will also be applied to your order total.

    Whether you choose to pay for your device up front today, or pay over time, you can upgrade your device at any time. If your current device has not yet been paid off, you will need to continue to make payments on the existing balance. For the well-qualified buyer, pay over time pricing will spread interest-free payments over 24 months. If you cancel wireless service, remaining balance on phone becomes due.

    You need a credit check for a couple of reasons. First, if you are applying for an Equipment Installment Plan (EIP) it’s standard practice for us to check your credit. If you want to keep your existing phone number we need to determine if it’s eligible to be transferred.

    Just like all other wireless carriers, T-Mobile has to charge enough to cover the cost of the phone. The difference is that T-Mobile separates the cost of the phone from the cost of the service. That means T-Mobile customers finish paying for their phone as soon the actual cost is paid off—and their monthly bill automatically drops.
