BlackBerry Internet E-mail Upgrade
On October 2, 2005, T-Mobile will upgrade the BlackBerry Internet E-mail service with a number of improvements. You dont have to do anything to keep getting your e-mail on your BlackBerry® handheld, but you may experience brief delays between 2:00 a.m and 7:00 a.m EDT on October 2, 2005.
Corporate e-mail using BlackBerry Enterprise Server will not be affected by this upgrade.
The upgrade eliminates the need for the BlackBerry Internet E-mail Web site. All e-mail functions can be performed from the BlackBerry handheld or the source e-mail account. As a result, on October 1, 2005, the current BlackBerry Internet E-mail Web site will be shut down.
IMPORTANT:
-
If you have e-mails or contacts stored on the BlackBerry Internet E-mail Web site that you want to save, you will need to forward them to another e-mail address before October 1, 2005. Access the Web site from your computer at www.t-mobile.com/bis.
-
Starting October 2, 2005, e-mails deleted on your BlackBerry handheld may be simultaneously deleted at the original e-mail account, or moved to the Trash or Deleted items folder, depending on your e-mail provider and your settings.
-
Account settings can now be managed directly from the handheld or through My T-Mobile. Once you log in to My T-Mobile, click the link titled Set Up BlackBerry Internet E-mail.
For the best performance, T-Mobile recommends ensuring that your BlackBerry handheld has the latest version of software loaded. You can get the latest version of software at www.t-mobile.com/bbupgrade using your personal computer.
The BlackBerry Internet E-mail upgrade will include the following improvements:
-
Improved integration with your e-mail accounts
- All Yahoo! Mail accounts, including free accounts, are now supported. No need for Yahoo! POP3 access to get your Yahoo! Mail delivered.
- E-mails to your Yahoo! Mail account are "pushed" to the handheld in real time.
- E-mails sent, received, or deleted on your handheld will reflect changes at the original e-mail account no need to manage the same e-mail account from two different places.
- E-mails sent from your handheld will show the correct "Sent From" e-mail address, even with multiple e-mail accounts consolidated to the BlackBerry device.
-
All account management functions like adding new e-mail accounts, managing filters and auto-signatures, can be performed directly from your BlackBerry handheld by clicking the Set Up Internet E-mail icon.
-
There will be no storage space limitation on e-mails sent to your BlackBerry Internet E-mail mailbox (username@tmo.blackberry.net), but those e-mails will be removed from the server after 30 days. You will have full access to e-mail content including attachments for the 30 days, regardless of the size of the files. After the 30 days, you will still have access to e-mails that are on the handheld, but not to attachments.
- NOTE: this change ONLY affects e-mails sent to an address ending in @tmo.blackberry.net. Other e-mail services vary in their storage and time limits.
-
Filters have been re-designed based on customer feedback. Filters are an optional feature to control which e-mails are sent to the handheld. Existing filters will need to be re-created after the upgrade.
-
Based on customer feedback Out of Office Reply and Auto Forward features have been eliminated.
-
The Auto BCC feature will not be eliminated as part of this upgrade, and your Auto BCC settings will be automatically saved during the upgrade.
